Other MST 'retreads'?

All the discussion over on the SCCTM thread reminded me of a request of mine that I made over at the CT boards.  That being if they were going to (or in this case re-do)  MST-type classic, why not do the 'unobtainable' trifecta that is 'The Green Slime',  'Invaders from the Deep', and  'Revenge of the Mysterons'?

I'd like to see them riff the three movies live and bypass any rights issues. Then offer the audio riff(ala' rifftrax)on their website, as a CT lite title....or partner with Rifftrax for the release.
I'm willing to pay 4.99$ for a CT audio riff.

And I'm also willing to pre-pay into a rights management fund to help purchase the rights to these movies. Or simply pre-pay for the next CT title. Maybe a monthly payment? ?

Plastic Self-Cleaning Duck

I'd like to see what Joel and Josh could add to Santa Claus next year.

Girl In Gold Boots would be new to everyone except MJ....and it's PD.  They might even find a complete copy instead of that messed up one they had for Sci-Fi.

doggans

Aw, but the glitchy copy brought forth one of the most quotable scenes ever! "Anybody notice that I'm here now?"

Come on!  I just teleported, its very impressive!

And as far at that went for that copy of it...great.   Now let's see what the CT crew could do with the actual dialogue that got cut and/or talked over.

Plus - if you look at the trailer - there's a lot of that movie we didn't see.

Dim of the Yard

I think if they were to retool another MST3k episode, I'd want it to be from a weaker episode, like one from an earlier season.  Robot vs. Aztec Mummy springs to mind almost immediately.

Is there some sort of Imdb-type listing that one consults in order to find out if a movie is PD?

I go by Alpha Video's 5 for $25 DVD's.....they never use anything that isn't PD.

Anything from KTMA or the first season is fine, but I'd like them to stay away from the rest. One riff is plenty, I think.

Me, I'd actually prefer for them to take another shot at films they weren't able to acquire the rights to the first time around. There was some great ones that never happened (including Baffled with Leonard Nimoy as a '70s race-car driver with ESP and Moment By Moment which involves a steamy, passionate affair between Lily Tomlin and John Travolta) and who knows, maybe the companies that own them have mellowed over the past decade. (Okay, probably not, but it's a possibility!)

Insert Coin(s) to Continue

If they're going to do another retread, they ought to do it properly this time. That is, get the RiffTrax guys to riff it as a VOD. It'd be like a competition.

Showing something live won't get you around any rights issues. You still have to have rights to be able to show something in a public forum. That's why I can't just set up a projector and show Transformers at the civic center (even if it's free)
Grapes? I hate grapes, I can't stand grapes. I loathe grapes. All kinds of grapes. I hate green grapes and I hate purple grapes. I hate grapes with seeds, I hate grapes without seeds. I hate them peeled and nonpeeled. I hate them in bunches, one at a time and in small groups of twos and threes.
