Rifftrax Selection Process?

I don't know if this has been addressed in a previous post, but does anyone know how they go about choosing movies?

it is up to mike to decide. anything is fair game, but your suggestions are appreciated and it will be nice when they finally do batman and robin

(also I forget who it was exactly but someone did succesfully predict the Lord of the Rings riff... try asking them)

He asks a penguin who gives him a series of clues, each more cunning than the last. Hours are spent going to different countries and employing archaeologists to decipher their meaning. Then, after everything has been translated into gibberish, he fasts for 4 days until he thinks it looks like a movie title. :^)

I'd heard that but i wanted it confirmed.

The only reason I ask is that I see movies like Star Wars, Star Trek, Halloween, X-Men, etc. which are all well known films.  Then there's stuff like Reign of Fire (which no one remembers.  The only reason I remembered it was because i was dumb enough to see it at the theater.) and Firewall (which no one will remember) that get the rifftrax treatment.  Not that I didn't enjoy them but why not go for more well known flicks.  Why not Battlefield Earth instead of Reign of Fire.  But I guess there's no end in sight for rifftrax, so maybe its just a matter of time.

No no no....he hears the ghost of Tv's Frank and is compelled to watch those movies. Seeing as Frank wasn't the brightest bulb, he sends a decent or even good film from time to time. Mike will just riff away anyway because it brings him much satisfaction all the same. Yes, that is how it is done
