Now that's an idea! Thanks for the tip!

RoninFox

Wonder if I can play it through my Wii's browser. Got something to check this weekend now.

Well, unfortunately I seem to be the outlying indicator on this one.

I'm on a DSL line, which should theorectically be sufficient to watch this but instead. The video. Will only. Play about. 4 or 5. Seconds at. A time. Resulting in. An experience. Like this. That's on the main Hulk page. And unlike most other streams, I can't pause it and wait until the thing fully loads and then watch it.

And when I headed over to overcast, I got a "there's insufficient bandwidth to watch this"  message.  So no joy on my end of the intraweb.

Hi Compound, We're trying hard to track all issues like this that folks encounter. If you wouldn't mind, try the site again and if it fails as it did before, go to speedtest.net, run a quick speed test and post your result. We test with a lot of different network configurations and if you've got some unusual conditions, we'll add that to our test matrix. From that, hopefully can improve your experience the next time around!

Thanks,
- Rich

If it kept buffering the whole video like YouTube, I'd be fine waiting for it on basic DSL (which I assume most people have). If they cut the framerate so it could actually stream like Fox.com, it would be fine. But it only buffers for a couple minutes, then stops. So I can watch a couple of minutes, and then I have to pause it for a couple of minutes to let it buffer a couple more minutes. Watching an hour long program that way isn't worth the hassle. As for feeback, people saying it works have fast connections, people saying it doesn't work have slower connections, and people not saying anything probably assume it's their fault. Basically what Compound said. If I could wait for the whole thing to load, this would be awesome. Even if I could only buffer one segment at a time due to the commercial interruptions, I still would have watched it.

You're dead right about buffering being the heart of the problem. We have a lot of control over how the RiffTrax audio is buffered, but limited control over the Hulu video. We'll keep working on it and I anticipate there are some improvements we can make as we move forward. I'm sorry it didn't work for you this time and I appreciate the feedback.

That's the coolest thing I've seen today. Not in our normal test matrix, but damn cool. Thanks for proving we can get to the big screen!

Pak-Man

I tried on my Wii and it doesn't work. Lucky PS3 owners. :^)

Can report that it worked pretty decently here - and I'm running Firefox 3.0.3 on an Ubuntu Linux system. (Intrepid Ibex, to be specific.) Linux compatibility definitely is a Good Thing. Streamed it from a cable Internet connection which is generally wicked fast.

Full-screen functionality, imo, is priority 1 for improvements. Outside-the-US licensing is priority 2 (although we understand this is a Hulu/NBC/GE issue more than anything else).

Was funny too, but a warning: don't try to sell these, at least in streaming form. First, it's not worth paying for, riff talent notwithstanding, and second, you'll wind up with a bevy of irritating licensing issues. Consider it a "loss leader" to get people to buy the longer rifftrax, and the excellent shorts, which I've bought, since they're priced right (for the most part), and contain no evil DRM.

for what it is worth, it does not work on the iPhones safari browser.

Works perfect! Good Job.

Things worked flawlessly here.  No sync loss.  Player loaded and operated as expected.  Nice work fellas.

A "giant screw you" would probably be saying "No more PAL versions of the Trax!  All non american IPs are banned from the site!"

This is probably more of a "medium sized inconvenience that we sincerely regret".

OMG - such an awesome idea!  I loved it and sincerely hope that rifftrax and episodes from cheesy 70's tv shows will be available in the future. More please gentlemen

And it also kind of made me nostalgic for "Riding with Death" - gotta pop that into the VCR again :)

Watched it on IE 7, Vista 64 (yeah, yeah). No problems at all. Had to pause and minimize the window for about three hours while I worked on some documents, including accessing several websites on different tabs, and when I came back to it and clicked 'play' it picked right back up, no problem. Good riffing too. Being able to expand to full screen will be a must, of course.

Biggest issue for me concerning whether or not I would buy is the limitations imposed by: HULU availability (though I do like HULU and think it's well thought out), inability to watch it on the big screen with my sons (which I could sort of finesse by bringing the laptop into that room and hooking up the HDMI cable to the TV), and not being able to just pull it off a shelf.

Suggestion: since NBC has this program available on NetFlix, including the 'Watch it Now' feature, maybe you could work something out with NetFlix. I also use the Roku player to watch programs in the instant cue on NetFlix, and it works pretty painlessly.
