Compound--

Fantastic job on this. I love the little details, like the "Rifftrax" on Hermione's Book, and the bomb on the Hogwart's crest.

Bravo, sir.

I assume you meant my cover. I didn't figure anyone would notice those little things!

Oh, crap, yeah, I meant yours. :) But yeah, marvelous sutff. Are you a professional graphic design artist?

Definitely not. I'm still fumbling my way through photoshop some of the time... but getting better. My artistic skills are sorely lacking, but Photoshop seems to make up for a lot of that! Now if only I could do this sort of thing for a living.... would be nice.

AWESOME!

Well, I tried using yours, Piobman, but the sizing of the title was off for doing my lightscribe :/  So I made one of my own.

Decided to give Kevin the "starring" role, and, for no real reason, an electric guitar.

Very nice! I'm not familiar with how light scribe works. Just curious, what exactly didn't work with the sizing of the title. Is it just too small or busy for the lightscribe?

Lightscribe labels have a huge center-space that can't have print on it because they have information around the inner hub. Your title was half cut off by that. That's why my labels aren't "full-face" labels.

HOWEVER...today I finally got my HP photosmart C5280 hooked up, and supermediastore says my DVDs will be delivered tomorrow, so... :)

I see.... I also have a c5280! Great printer! One word of warning. The software that comes with the dvd label making software sucks. I have managed to get it to work better with Acoustica CD Label Maker... and downloading their update (so my printer is listed). In the alignment settings I set the following:

Move By (to the right)- 0.25, Move by (Down) - 1.20, Diameter - 117.95, hole diameter - 22.25... and don't print with extra 1mm when asked. This gives a full face label perfect for the Verbatim full face labels I use. I've been banging my head on getting this calibrated for a long time! Hope this helps... maybe you'll get lucky and everything will print just fine for you. Mine was way off so use a test disc first.

WHen you say "full face labels"--you do mean direct-disc printing, right? I used to do the sticky labels on discs, until I realized that this made them unplayable after a very short time.

yeah... the direct to disc kind.

Okay. Nero cover printing doesn't work either?

Nero.... I did manage to get it to work thanks to a lengthy guide I found on the internet. It was tough to get it to print to the disc tray and not regular paper. In the end it was just more headache and I never could get it to print flush to the end of the disc. The problem with the built in software is that it does not allow you to print to the edges. You end up having about 2mm of white all around the disc.

Imrahil, what OS are you running?  Xp or Vista?  Becuase i have a HP Photosmart D5160 that prints to DVDs, and i found that printing directly from Windows(Vista), rather than using the HP software works good for me.  Basically using Windows Picture Gallery.  Usually i have the Box labeled "Fit Picture to Frame" checked.  Usually this insures that disc is printed on completely, with no white edges.

Sigh. Nothing's ever easy, is it? It took me like 2 hours to hook up this printer today due to a goddamn Lexmark service running in the background from the last printer I had installed that wouldn't allow the print spool to run.  So I'll have to wrestle with that next.

Bugger.

Thanks for the tip, I'll look at that stuff you posted when my eyes aren't crossing.

To give you hope. Printing covers is super easy. Unlike a lot of printers (cough* my old epson) you can print to the borders of an 8x10 paper no prob, allowing you to easily print a full size cover.

*laughs* I actually don't bother printing covers. I keep all my reauthored/burned discs in case logic cases (just not enough room for all the plastic cases).

I'm running vista.  I'm just wondering how you tell it which tray to print to?

Good question... I've yet to find that answer. It seems that the only to tell it to print to the tray is if the program supports your printer! Which is why there is so much trouble with other printing programs and the printer. Nero is advanced enough to work around this, but other programs are not.

So, I haven't tried Acoustica yet. Is there no way to get Nero to print full-face?

And do you use waterproof discs? I already smeared a little of one of my labels...is this a problem which is ongoing or does it set over time?

I gave up on getting nero to work full face... if you figure out a way... let me know.

I use the standard walmart variety for discs (non-waterproof)... and haven't had any smudging once they dry.

Bummer, sounds like Nero isn't going to work :/

I just bought 50 full-face discs from my normal media supplier (supermediastore.com, yeah!), but yeah, they're not super attractive with the white hub in the center.    I don't really want to buy another program and don't have access to...alternative forms of acquiring software. :/

I hope these discs dry out and don't smudge; how long does it take yours to do so?

I use the verbatim discs and they tend to dry out within 5-10 minutes completely. Or so I think they do! ... course I never tried smearing one to see.
