Doctor Who?

Yeah i guess you are right about The Simpsons.

I'm pretty sure Doctor Who could have gone on if they had just changed producers and uped the budget a little(Sci-Fi on it's way to being big again thanks to shows like next Gen at the time the plug was pulled)

I can't see South park getting stale any time soon thank goodness but it may happen at some point :speechless:

The thing about The Simpsons is that there are really only X number of interesting things you'll be able to do with any set of characters in any situation. After a while, you'll more or less have done them all. We've seen this again and again - I mean, look at how freaking absolute genius Red Dwarf was at its height, but no one could tell me with a straight face that by season 8 they hadn't just run out of steam. Doctor Who can maintain its creativity over the decades only because it more or less completely reinvents itself every couple of seasons - and even then, by the mid-80s it was getting stale and really needed to take 15 years or so off. Yes, The Simpsons does produce a really good episode every so often of late, but overall I'm just left wishing that they'd pulled the plug on it a while ago and concentrated all their creative talent on Futurama - which is a franchise that has a lot of life still left in it.

It kinda makes me wonder what Matt and Trey will do once South Park goes away. Hard to believe it's been 11 years - and still going strong. Some of my favorite episodes (Make Love, Not Warcraft; Canada On Strike; Major Boobage) have been in the last couple of seasons. But it, too, will wind down and get stale eventually.

Yep, they jumped the shark about 5 years ago.  that still give them what?, an 11 year run were the Simpson's were good (I am too lazy tonight to check how long that show has been on the air)?

As far as Titanic, I have always said it was a chick flick with a boat sinking at the end.

I'm no fan of Titanic but by that logic Gone With the Wind is a chick flick with a city burning in the middle.   ;)

What was the great, expansive message of Titanic though?  That even poor guys like getting laid?  That rich guys can be pricks?  That drawing naked women can be arousing as well as creatively challenging?

More like that Rose was a strong woman who could even survive losing the first man who loved her for who she was and encouraged that (as opposed to the abusive fiance and the mother basically selling her to him to clear up their debts).

And I'm not a fan of the film.

Like Rose wouldn't have married that dipshit once they got to New York.  The ship sinking made her decision for her really.

You really don't think she would have run off with Jack instead?   Ye of little faith....

Quicksilver

as my first post in months..............

The Constant Gardener..........no freakin idea
The Ood: The Beast and his armies will rise from the pit to make war against God.
Rose: I'm sorry?
The Ood: Apologies. I said: I hope you enjoy your meal.

Doctor Who?

I have heard the name of that movie but what type of movie is it?

I know nothing about it but I don't think Hollywood would have made a movie about  gardening so i have no idea what type of movie it is.

And actually the novel was written by le Carré, the film was adapted by Jeffrey Caine.

To put is another way The Constant Gardener is a spy movie the way Syriana is a spy movie, rather than say Live and Let Die is a spy movie.

Live and Let Die was a blaxploitation movie starring white people.
