PS- I was right about at least one thing, check out the newest registered forum member.

It's a general rule of mine never to say anything on the Internet that you wouldn't want the person you're saying it about to read..or their family, kids, distant step cousins, fans, pr people, etc ;)

Good idea.  And we'll call it "The Internet."

Again, there's a difference between iRiffs and Rifftrax Presents IMO.  iRiffs are riffs made by the fans, for the fans.  Rifftrax Presents is riffs that are riffed (with the exception of Matthew Elliot up to this point) by Kevin and/or Bill.

Conor covered this, I think, already, but just in case (and rather than going back and checking): RiffTrax Presents does not mean Kevin and Bill, as the exception of Matthew Eliot has proven from day one.  The factors they all have in common so far are (1) the lack of Mike and (2) the presence of hand-picked, RiffTrax-approved people who are not Mike.

I have bought every RT (and RTP) so far, and I know I'm not the only person.

Some of us also prefer the older (and particularly 80s) movies.

...

And therefore, since Mike and the gang are not likely to riff the film, (due to my earlier mentioned reasons) would this be not be the perfect kind of movie for Cole and Janet to Riff?

Yeah, it is, except that it's also Dirty Dancing.  I have mixed feelings about it.  Not that I have the slightest doubt that these two will be hilarious.  I gave Matthew Eliot and chance and loved him, and anyone Mike thinks is funny is fine by me.  But there's just something a little sad about knowing that Mike will, in all likelihood, never riff Dirty Dancing himself now.  It seems like the perfect thing for him.  I understand the economics of it, but with iRiffs (soon) and RiffTrax Presents (now) and such all bringing extra streams of revenue in that the company didn't have a couple years ago, I would like to have the occasional bone thrown to the diehards, like Mike (with or without Kevin and Bill) riffing Dirty Dancing would have been.  It's just a little disappointing to know that he won't do that now (with this film, I mean).

That said, I still look forward to this riff.  I thought the Harry Potter riff was one of the funniest yet, so if that's any indication of the quality of their writing, this one should be awesome.

But like I said, Dirty Dancing was a very, very outside chance of having the guys on it, given the way the dollars have fallen.

Except for the fact that Mike said it was on the way, and even if he didn't say outright that he was going to riff on it, it was implied.   And it was probably originally planned that way until the two guest riffers spoke up.  This was one of the few titles that we knew about before the initial announcement and I think everyone has the right to voice their opinions and not be called tacky.   You've done more posting in this thread trying to pick a fight than anyone who said they were against it.  Like I said, I'll be getting it anyway but I can understand being a little upset if I bought a copy of Dirty Dancing based on Courtney's interview and having this be the way it turned out.

I'm of a mind that funny is funny, which is why I try to give as many of the fan riffs availible so far a listen.  I get that not many people will, so this is no different.  I assumed that this one would wind up being a solo Mike riff and while I don't think solo riffs are any better or worse than multi riffer movies I get that the older movies don't sell as well so they should try to keep costs down.  I think Mike's best work is on the cheesy 80's movies and the god awful box office flops, but I get that they don't sell well.  I thought this would be like throwing a bone to those of a similar mind but I guess not.

...and why I took the time to type this between doing my work somebody said pretty much the same thing.

I don't know when Courtney's interview was, so i don't know what the time-frame exactly is, but the bottom line is, people were not going to buy it as steadily if Mike or Mike and the gang did it instead of a blockbuster, so they didn't do it.

We all spoke with our wallets.

Anyone who hasn't bought Crossroads or Glitter or any 80s film made it so that Dirty Dancing was very unlikely to be released. Mike didn't PROMISE it, no more than when they mentioned Blue Crush way back in the early days, and everyone assumed it was coming next (I think some folks may have even ordered the DVD)

Rifftrax is a small company, constantly evolving depending on the reactions of their customers.

Less people bought chick flicks, less people buy 80s movies, the RT crew changed their scopes.

And yet it's called tacky when their customers react ;)

Not by the RT folk.  The RT folk are way awesome in my opinion.

Her column was posted on May 1st of this year, so I'd guess the interview took place some time in April.  The exact quote from Mike, which is at the very end of the interview, was:

"And I'd never seen Dirty Dancing. I watched that with Bridget a couple weeks ago. That is coming too. Nobody puts that movie in a corner."

Although he did not explicitly state that he would be doing the riffing, RiffTrax Presents wasn't unveiled until after Courtney's column, so you can certainly see how everyone would be led to believe that Mike would be involved, since he had been involved in every riffing project up to that point.

I can indeed see how that conclusions may be come to.

And yet it was wrong.

You know what they say about assuming, right?

Y'know, Edward J Grug III, I'm starting to wonder if you're doing more harm than good here by your ubiquitous defensiveness.  You're coming down on a lot of people who you're (sometimes) misinterpreting, which, if done excessively, could stir resentment in the people who didn't have too strong of an opinion before.  I know you think you're doing good here, but, man, do you have to reply to everyone expressing a modicum of negativity?  Just say what you need to say and move on.

You're probably right, I do feel compelled to respond to people who respond to me, but it is starting to go around in circles.
