QuoteEvery time the guys invites new people to the party there are pages and pages of, Awww, you're not Mike etc.
No one is complaining about the choices of riffers. Just the choice of movie.

Well, if I didn't complain explicitly, it was certainly implied in mine. :)

Haha, thanks for getting my back there, Imrahil. ;P

Anyhow........ does it matter which version of the movie we use?    Do you know which version was used in making the Rifftrax?

Thanks.

They sure as heck better all be the same cut, cause I already cracked open the "ultimate" (yeah right) one.

Raven

I'll be checking this one out.  I trust the folks at Rifftrax to pick funny people.  I was a little confused when I saw the choice of riffers for this but at least it's being done.

Ill make that complaint.. in a round about way:

'20 questions'  for a riff with 2 people nobody knows?

I would hope that tradition is saved for the "main three"

Esp. since the eventual idea seems to be to have many unkowns posting their own riffs in time..
Some of us only check in on the forums to see if there is a Mike Bill or Kevin track coming out.. a 20q announcement .. that used to be a bright spot..
Im not keen on getting my hopes up with a '20q' announcement.. only to find its my neighbor riffing on his sons soccer match.

I would agree with that.  I admit, I've been looking forward to Mike, at least, but preferably with the guys riffing on this film for a while.  It's a disappointment that it won't be now.  I would have been indifferent had these guys did "The Breakfast Club" or something that I wasn't looking forward to.

But, like I said in the chat room, there are plenty of places for my entertainment dollar. I don't have to buy it.  I don't have to even try it.

It's not fair, but it's true.  Most of us are here because we are fans of the threesome.  It'd be like your favorite artist announcing their next CD was going to be done by some local band. It could be a good CD, but it's just not the same.
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

Dim of the Yard

Feel like only Mike should riff Patrick Swayze movies?  Easy solution: For the benefit of Dirty Dancing, just call the Swayz "Batrick Bwayze."  Then marvel at how the new riffers are covering new ground in riffing on a classic Batrick Bwayze movie.

Seriously, did Mike ever riff a Batrick Bwayze movie?  I think not.

I, for one, vote for less questions when it's a RiffTrax Presents involved.  Make us really work.  10 questions!  Gogogo!*

But like I said, Dirty Dancing was a very, very outside chance of having the guys on it, given the way the dollars have fallen.

It's sad but true that people aren't buying the chick flicks or the eighties movies, it's just not worth it for Mike and the gang to do them.

I wonder how different the sales of say Over The Top or Predator are from Matthew Elliot's releases?

You're complaining because the guys at Rifftrax play games with us?

Who else does that?

Man, you guys are a tough crowd!

True, but if it is not going to be successful anyway, putting two unknowns with it is another crippling factor.  It's not going to do well enough for Mike to do it...so we'll let these guys who nobody knows about do it and see how well it does?  I guess maybe these get paid significantly less and it averages out.

I guess it's their way of making the people who want to see this type of movie done happy and still paying the bills, but it doesn't make the choice less disappointing.  I want to hear the people I'm a fan of riff this type of movie.  It's not the same thing.

That being said, I'm more than happy to keep buying the Rifftrax I like and leave the rest alone.  Some people are excited about it. I hope these guys do well. It's nothing against them.

I wasn't saying it wouldn't be successful, just not as sucessful as a Mike, Bill and Kevin Riff on 10, 000 BC and that I wonder if it's a factor at all to the type of people who would already buy it?

I have bought every RT (and RTP) so far, and I know I'm not the only person.

Some of us also prefer the older (and particularly 80s) movies.

On the flip side, some people only buy the newest movies, or movies they already have in their collection.

Some people only buy the films with at least two of the three guys on them (there are probably some who only buy all three?)

So, the question is, will it be more or less as successful for these guys to riff an 80s movie and it would be for them to riff AvPR?

And therefore, since Mike and the gang are not likely to riff the film, (due to my earlier mentioned reasons) would this be not be the perfect kind of movie for Cole and Janet to Riff?

I'll buy this one because I'm a RiffTrax fan and a completist, even though I despise this movie and will probably only watch it once.  I also think that an endorsement by RiffTrax for unknown riffers is enough to give them a try, but that's my opinion and my choice to make.  Spin it however you like, but I have to disagree with those that imply that expressing disappointment is somehow disrespectful or otherwise unwelcome.

Edward J Grug III

My argument was that it was tacky.

And I stand by it.

I didn't say you have to buy it. I didn't say you have to like it.

But man, wouldn't it be nice to have a thread where new folks get introduced without it being a boohoo-fest?

Sure it would.  But don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.  People are entitled to express their opinions, even if they're not all rosy.
