I'll definately have to wait to see a sample clip or two. If it looks really good, I may get it (if I can find the DVD really cheap). But as of now this may be one I pass on. I liked Matt Elliot after I gave him a try. But I never heard of these people before, so I'm iffy. But that is just me.

Can somebody provide me a link to that interview with Mike about screening Dirty Dancing please?  I would love to read the whole thing.  Thanks.

You can't see her 'cause it's text, but the chick who interviewed him is kind of a hottie.  Big bitch though.

"I'd never seen Dirty Dancing. I watched that with Bridget a couple weeks ago. That is coming too. Nobody puts that movie in a corner."
I just have to throw this out there... He never said that he would be the one riffing it, just that it was coming.
Anyhow! Give it a chance... you may love it!

... and yeah she's a hottie... and a "Big bitch"... she ignored me at Con!   ;)   :D

It also could be that the interview took place before Cole and Janet said that they wanted to do it. I'm not sure on that, but it generally has been the case that when guest riffers or Rifftrax Presents crews come about, they choose the movie(s).For Rifftrax Presents this has exclusively been the case.
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

I did no such thing! I just... didn't notice you.  I tend to be very focused on important things like beer.  But as soon as I looked up from said beer I stopped ignoring you and life!

Ah yes... Beer!   *sip, sip... BELCH!*
It all makes sense now!

Plus I did get a free shot that night, so I was doubly focused.

I'm really quite confused by all of this ranting. It seems to me that the more movies that are riffed on, the better. More products to download and enjoy.  Why does it even matter if Mike wasn't riffing on the movie? The format which is sold on the site allows a number of different groups to riff on a movie, and allow you to download them and watch them at your leisure.

It's not as if Mike is now unable to riff on the movie himself, or along with Kevin and Bill.  There is the possible fact that he would NEVER have riffed on the movie, because there are so many other projects he would rather work on.

Also, if you are so unwilling to even attempt to watch someone else riff on a movie, then what does that mean for iRiffs? iRiffs, where all of the material will be fan based. iRiffs, where none of the material will be done or worked on by Mike.

Hell, the sacred three have had YEARS of practice at this whole thing, and have it down to a fine science. Embrace other people that want to give it a shot and enjoy it, instead of slamming it.  If you didn't like the riffing, that's one thing, but to boycott it based solely on the fact that a Mike didn't work on it is just silly.

1.  I don't see any long hardcore rants against this movie in this thread.  But maybe that's just me.

2.  It doesn't matter that Mike himself isn't riffing as much as the fact that none of the big 3 are riffing it.  It makes this riff feel more like an iRiff than an actual Rifftrax.

1.  Since it has the Rifftrax name on it it's VERY unlikely that Mike, Kevin or Bill will riff this movie.

2.  Mike himself said in Courtney's interview that he planned on riffing Dirty Dancing.  Did he explicitly state that he, himself would be riffing it?  No.  But it was implied.  So, I think you could at least see how some people might be a little disappointed with this.

Again, there's a difference between iRiffs and Rifftrax Presents IMO.  iRiffs are riffs made by the fans, for the fans.  Rifftrax Presents is riffs that are riffed (with the exception of Matthew Elliot up to this point) by Kevin and/or Bill.

Again, I'm not seeing a ton of outrage here.  Just disappointment.  And I'm sure we'll all embrace the other people who want to riff when iRiffs officially opens to the masses next month.  It's just that some of us prefer to have at least one of the big 3 in our Rifftrax.  That's all.

People are entitled to be as selective as they please when spending their own money.

Of course people can spend their money how they please (and I would NEVER suggest otherwise), but considering the flamefest of a Mike/Swayz debate that this thread seems to be foreshadowing (which a good number of you have mentioned); I think that to say it's silly to not give a riff a chance (that's what free samples are for) simply because of the lack of Mike (or Kevin, or Bill), is a fair judgment. I'd like to think that Mike and co have good taste when selecting who is allowed to carry the Rifftrax name, and I'm speaking as someone who has never heard anything from the two new peoples either.

I think xrampage was preemptively smacking down some of the shitstorm on the horizon and wasn't meant to be taken THAT maliciously.

Bottom line for me - would I like to see Mike, Kevin, or Bill on this one? Of course. Do I expect to laugh my ass off regardless? You bet your ass.

Back on to more important issues then:

$2.99??  What up wit dat?  Seems a bit pricey for a riff by two unknowns.  Now I think I'm back on the fence about buying this one.  Better wait until I see the sample and hear some comments from folks that have seen it.  Although I do already own a copy of Dirty Dancing, which is a plus.  Makes that $2.99 price tag a bit easier to swallow.

...you own a copy of Dirty Dancing?

Bought it for $3.99 at Best Buy a year or so ago in the hopes that Mike was gonna riff it eventually.  It's been sitting on my shelf unopened since then.  I think I have seen the movie once or twice over the years.  It's not that bad, but it's also not anything I would ever want to sit down and watch again.

I used to buy cheap DVD's speculating on what may be a future Rifftrax.  That's why I own a copy of Catwoman also.

Well there is a difference between iRiffs and RiffTrax Presents, but not how you lay it out.  RiffTrax Presents are performers that are hand picked by RiffTrax.  They can feature Kevin, Bill, Mary Jo, Matthew Elliot, Josh Fruhlinger, Cole, Janet, improv groups, actors, comedians.  The point of it is someone whose work we admire and choose to present to everybody, and you can hopefully feel comfortable knowing that it will be up to a certain standard, both funny and technical wise.  We're hopeful that we can get lots more people to contribute their talents under this banner as well, whether people have heard about them or not.  If they're not exactly what you are used to...well, that's kind of the point.

I don't really know what to say.  Where would this start to seem worth it to you, seeing as how all our other two person riffs have cost this much?
