According to an article in an Aussie paper http://www.smh.com.au/news/people/rusty-relaxes-as-film-takes-leaf-of-absence/2008/08/16/1218307309396.html, Russell has this in the works.

This could possibly be one of the best biopics ever.

Although I think a Carlin biopic could be better, if it has the right actor as Carlin.

Crowe? Uhmm... yeah, I dunno about him as Hicks. Doesn't feel right.

I just don't/can't see Crowe as Bill Hicks. If you were to ask me I wouldn't have a clue as to who could play him. They should find an unknown actor.

I'm a huge fan of Hicks and I can actually see Crowe pulling it off.  I think this could work. I'm not going to shit on it just yet.

I think Crowe can pretty much pull anything off.  Just seeing him in the Insider is enough for me.

Yeah, while I can't see Crowe playing the part of Bill Hicks, I still wouldn't put it past him.

Frankly, I can't think of a better alternative at the moment, so I shall sit back and watch for more updates on this.

Yeah, it's a pretty hard role to cast, but I always try to not past judgment on casting until I see the acting.
