This has to be a joke, right?   What does this really mean, he sleeps around on her and got caught?

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for sex addiction.

Actor David Duchovny starred in this summer's second "X-Files" movie.

In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding, "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com.

She and Stein both declined to elaborate further.

Duchovny plays a sex-obsessed character on the Showtime series "Californication," which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins September 28.

Duchovny, 48, best known for the role of Agent Fox Mulder on "The X-Files," has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two

Oh, this explains why he never makes a good movie. He's so addicted to sex that it interferes with every aspect of his life.

After that song "David Duchovny Why Don't you Love me" came out, he was quoted as saying that he came up with a parody called "Tea Leoni why won't you blow me".

So yeah, I think there were some early warning signs out there.

Hasn't sex/porn addiction been part of a number of characters he's played? Mulder had moments where it was mentioned he had a pretty extensive library and there was that with with the red head who looks like the Grinch where he's pretty erotomaniacal.

EDIT: Julianne Moore! That's the redhead I was thinking of. This is the film.

Doctor Who?

I think it's two copies of every lost Doctor Who episode.

Hey if anyone can find them it's Fox Maulder.

Weren't there some lines in the XFiles that hinted he may have been a porn addict in that too?

That's the first thing I thought of!  (I've never watched Californication, I don't get Showtime.)  That movie was terrible.

Er yes that would be the library I meant. :)

Yeah the trailer said "No" to me, especially the bit where the young dude sends over a drink and Moore smiles like the Grinch when he first devises the plan to steal Christmas.

There were plenty of such hints, Doc.  The most disturbing of them probably came in the episode "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose".  Mr. Bruckman had the uncanny skill of foreseeing how a person would die ... and he mentioned in Mulder's presence that auto-erotic asphyxiation was an awfully undignified way to go.

(Even more unusual was his reply to Scully, when she asked him how she would die:  "You don't.")

Should've known: Duchovny has a poster in his office saying "I Want to Conceive."

Was this before or after they met?  Cuz if before....what a charming way to introduce yourself.   ::)   If after and he has to make up a song to get that to happen....poor baby.

Not being able to keep it in your pants is an addiction?  My Dad was the Betty Ford of this then - only he was never cured.

Oh!  No, no, no!!!  It was very, very good. Definitely see it.  The cold words on the screen there don't do those moments justice!

Aww crap he's been in a movie with the Grinch twice then, no wonder the balance of his mind was unsettled.
