It HAS to be better than Rocky V.

Its not...

You might be in the minority, I stealing all this from the imdb, by the way:

When it was originally announced, the decision to make yet another Rocky movie with Sylvester Stallone playing the character he created 30 years ago was almost universally hooted. "Critics are going to have a field day with it," was the general consensus. Well, as it turns out, the reviews for Rocky Balboa are pretty good. Richard Roeper in the Chicago Sun-Times writes: "Rocky Balboa is not the embarrassment many expected it to be. It's actually the best Rocky movie since the original -- a fitting and triumphant final chapter for one of the most iconic characters in the history of motion pictures." Similarly, Stephen Holden in the New York Times writes: "Surprisingly Rocky Balboa, is no embarrassment. Like its forerunners it goes the distance almost in spite of itself." Claudia Puig in USA Today quotes Rocky himself: "Who wouldda thunk?" And Geoff Pevere in the Toronto Star has this take on the film's accomplishment: "Satisfying in the end because it's not nearly as bad as it could have been, Rocky Balboa succeeds mostly because it does what the character does: gets through without falling flat on its ass." The film may also resurrect the faded career of Sylvester Stallone, other critics observe. "Defying all odds," Michael Wilmington writes in the Chicago Tribune, Stallone's movie "comes close to a knockout."

I'm going to go see it when i have a chance, I'm going into it not expecting anything so that if its good ill love it and if its bad then i can just laugh the whole way through.

The review gives me some hope that its not going to be a flop. I loved the original Rocky so lets hope i feel the same for this one

I'm a huge rocky fan and I walked out of that movie ready to get into a fight. It was wicked good. kept to all the old roots of the original great story. They dont try to hide the fact that he's old. All round awesome movie.

Wicked good? You gotta be from New England. Mass or R.I.?

Any Canadians watch TSN yesterday and see the Top Ten greatest scenes from a sports movie?
Kevin Costner was in 3 different scenes: Bull Durham, Field of Dreams and Tin Cup.

Anyway, the #1 scene was from the original Rocky movie when he's running up the steps.

It's also a NY thing so don't feel bad. I gotta say it was nice to come to another state where "wicked" is used as an adjective.

I saw it opening night with my cousin and we were both wearing "Win Rocky Win" tshirts....the movie was in my view perfect. The perfect bookend if you want it or the perfect sequel to the original Rocky. Just great all around.

Just got back from the theater.

I liked it, though it was a little too heavy on the sentimentality in parts.

Overall, a decent flick.

And yes, the theme song is still intact. Now I gotta go watch Rocky!

davo
