Hopefully this will be good because I liked the Shannara series. I thought, however, there was another book that came before elfstones, they just skipping that one?

Well, having just finished 15 books of Shannara I can't say as I'm too enthused with more. But then again, they might do it right this time!

In one of the preps I read they said that "Sword" (the first book) was more like terry brooks "teaching himself how to write a fantasy novel" (his own words) and therefore "Elfstones" coupled with some elements of "Sword" would make a better movie.

I actually like the Voyage of the Jerle Shannara better, but I recall you didn't bother reading that far...

I like the series, as light entertainment. It's no mind-bogglingly amazing masterpiece, though. It should make good movie material.

I read the sword, elfstones, and wishsong of shannara.


Elfstones, was the best one...but Imrahil is right, big LoTR ripoff. But i have to give them credit, because I would have taken much longer to become a LoTR fan without them.
