I agree with ScottH.

My least favorite rifftrax to date are those of movies I feel are very well done and are good examples of what Hollywood should be investing its trillions of dollars into.  While my favorite riffs are of the stinkers.  Making what is otherwise a complete waste of celluloid into an enjoyable experience is what MST3K was all about!  Its seems every once and a while Rifftrax drifts from that tradition and does movies like Alien, LOTR, and now Memento.

Now, I have read Mr. Nelson's wonderful "Movie Megacheese" and didn't agree on a few of his criticisms so I know we have a slightly different view of quality cinema so I always give them the benefit of the doubt, but Memento is going to be a really hard sell for me.  Even the sample above got only a few chuckles out of me.

When directors spend a lot of time and energy on a movie it shows and I think Christopher Nolan is an excellent example of an artist who really cares for his work.

I am starting to think they only did Memento because Joey Pants is in it...

Oh, and if anyone wants to prove to me that Memento is "a pile of garbage" (as stated in a different post somewhere else)  please feel free to elaborate.  It's gets dangerously close to IMDB quality arguments on these forums every once and a while and that my fellow rifftrax, is just not excusable!! :speechless:

On a side note:   I think Batman Begins would have been a much better choice if one was going to riff a Nolan film.

So what time can we expect this awesome riff?

I am in agreement in that Memento is a good film. It's one of those movies you tell people to watch.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to riff a good (my opinion) movie. Case in point, my wife, who is an enormous Lord of the Rings fan was a bit upset they riffed on it.... but after watching the rifftrax, she loved it.

Maybe it'll give the movie another dimension!

what time do riff's usually come out? its 3:45am here

There really isn't a set time, we try to pump it out as soon as we can on the day of release but no set schedule. It will be up by the end of the work day (5PM Pacific Time, shouldn't take that long though)
Any issues with the RiffTrax main page should be directed to support@rifftrax.com Attempts to engage with me directly about such matters will result in ridicule.

This isn't MST3k 2.0.

Memento is a good movie the first time or maybe the second time you watch it, but once you know what is gonna happen and why, it is boring to watch it again.  That's why it will work fine.

I think you're missing my point (or I didn't make it well) I'd honestly prefer they completely avoided "this movie sucks" style jokes.

"Should good movies be riffed or not" is the new "Joel or Mike"

That really was a great sample. Can't wait for the track.

For those that are unhappy with the movie choices, I don't think it comes down to "good movies vs. bad movies." That's impossible to define. My understanding is that they guys just want to make the experience of watching any movie as much fun as possible. In that light, there are very few titles that would be inappropriate.

What stood out to you as a "this movie sucks" joke from the sample?

I don't see them doing that for better quality films, though.  I've seen them do "This part of the movie sucks" jokes for tedious and nonsensical bits (e.g. the Quidditch match from the first Harry Potter) but overall they seem to respect the material pretty well.
