To tell the truth, I lost all faith in Frank Miller as a writer and especially a batman writer. Ive never really considered the dark knight returns to be the real batman. But at least it was a good book. Now Miller has taken his twisted views of batman to far. First with the Dark Knight Strikes Again and then in All Star. I mean in All Star Batman, he kidnapp Robin then slaps him, he beats up alfred and calls himself the God Damn Batman. Thats not the batman i know. Personally i think his best batman book was Year One. I should point out his next Batman book is going be "Holy Terror Batman". Its basically Batman vs Al-Qaeda. Im not saying that Frank Millar is bad. But the more i read his recent stuff the more i feel he is overrated. Thats kinda goes for Alan Moore to. As for this movie im not sure if Frank Miller is the right person to bring Will Eisner's Spirit to life and seeing as this is his first solo directing job. I dont have high hopes. But ill probably see it anyways.

hmm.  I actually liked Sin City, having read the books a couple years before, but i was not impressed by the trailer.  Miller's stlye was perfect for Sin CIty, but not someone else's work.

Agreed whole heartedly.  I like a lot of Frank Miller's work but I also hate a lot of it too.  He's very talented, but a talented creator doesn't guarantee great art.

I'm with you there. Sometimes talent in an artist means you will enjoy their creations, and sometimes it just mean the pain will come through in stereo.

I saw the trailer for this at the Dark Knight previews....

it looks.... terrible.

I'm not the kind of comic book fan that has a giant hissy fit whenever something doesn't turn out the way I wanted - ...

I guess because Eisner's book "The Dreamer" inspired me to get into comic art and subsequently illustration... and actually the college that I chose... it was all influenced by that book and then the Spirit series.  Think I was 15.  But anyway, seeing Miller's take is just completely out of left field.

I have a theory about Miller; I think once he hit movies he became a dick.  He felt like he could make his own personal fantasy movies because he was a big shot and people would think he's arty and avante garde.

The Spirit isn't a sexy thriller with blue fog lights and huge titties bobbling all over the place.  To me, it's a sleek 40's film noir with a bit of quirk and Joan Crawford eyes.  From the trailer, it looks like all silly exposition.

Oh well.

Get out of my head!!  Quit thinking my thoughts!  :)

Also regarding Frank Miller's The Spirit:  Do not want.

Will Eisner's The Spirit, please.  thnx
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

It's almost like you guys think huge titties bobbling all over the place is a bad thing.

So, let's see if I can figure out the equation....

Huge titties bobbling all over the place + comic book movie = nerd rage

Huge titties bobbling all over the place + anything else = awesome

Well it would explain why the Bunny/Pet Section of the local Comic Con is so unfrequented :)

I always feel sorry for those girls.

I know. I do, too. I went to a local fair several years ago and saw a girl I went to school with in a short, tight and low-cut Budweiser dress, standing next to a muscle car and working the crowd. She hadn't said two words to me in school, but she knew who I was that day. I actually felt really sorry for her.

And then a sense of superiority took over and that pity went right out the window.

Haha!   :D Well, what if there were trailers full of huge pants bulges and man bits?  Haha - I'd still be uncomfortable.

I don't have a problem with boobies, but in the comics it took 20 YEARS for the Spirit to get hit on my all those ladies - not 2 hours!!!

I have problems with neither boobies nor with man bits. It's all good, baby. As far as I'm concerned they can shoehorn huge bobbling titties and bulging man bits into every movie made from here on out.

I was walking down 8th Avenue yesterday and I saw a bus in Times Square with an ad for Spirit on the side. It was Scarlett Johanssen (or Johnson or however you spell her name) looking over her glasses and it said, "Down on your knees, then" or something to that effect. I imagined all the nerds' heads around me popping like Scanners as that thing went by, a mass explosion of nerd rage.

P.S. I'm teasing nerds, but I love them. I'm married to the hugest nerd ever!
