Just because i like to post Python vids, and this seems like a good place as any.

The South Park movie was fun, and I've been a fan of the show on and off (though I haven't caught new episodes in quite awhile) but I'm much more likely to sit and watch Life of Brian given the choice.

Love 'em both with a vengance, but I have to go with South Park. I feel like the movie, overall, had more to say and said it more effectively. It's easy to underestimate it, and that's the whole point.

Right, because "shut your fucking face, uncle fucker" is such a timeless message... :D
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Ah, but it IS. It takes the "evil" of swearing that society fears in the movie and cranks it up to a rediculous extreme. At the end of the movie, whether you agree with it or not, the fact is you just watched a movie full of swearing and it didn't kill you or warp you or harm you in the least. The real harm comes from blaming society's evils on the dirty words that slip out in a movie, and  it spirals around and reinforces the whole point. The movie within the movie and the audience's feelings about that scene set the stage for everything the movie has to say.

Of course, it can ALSO be enjoyed on the immature "He just said a dirty word in a cartoon" level, but if you care to dig, there's a lot of substance in the detritis. :^)

Fixed it for you.

Doctor Who?

I love LOB but i sing the songs from the South park movies all day so it gets my vote.

This may be the hardest one yet.

Oh, that's not what the stupid parents who brought their little ones to this movie thought.  And trust me, there were plenty of them who brought their little ones to this movie.

I voted for Life of Brian.  It's in my opinion some of the best stuff that the Monty Python crew's ever done, and it didn't take me too long to get too bored with the South Park movie (although the songs were damn catchy), so this was a fairly easy vote for me.

Oh that's the exact same experience I had, a whole row of teeny tiny kids brought by idiot parents. And the scene with the parents scattering from the theatre in the movie was reflected in exactly the same thing happening in the auditorium where I watched the film.

Oh and I voted for Brian.

What is the deal with stupid parents?  If you're stupid enough to bring your children to the R-Rated South Park movie, you shouldn't be allowed to have children.  Nor should the guy who brought his kids to see Saw 4 last October opening night.  The kids were crying.

Those people are worse than the ones who won't police their kids.  There's letting your tween run around during the entire run of Dark Knight (which happened to me last night), and then there's terrifying your little one.  Has common sense just lost out to the fact that a kid's movie ticket is cheaper than a babysitter for the night?

On a lighter note, my dad's still very fond of the memory of a single mother with her toddler sitting up close to the screen to see Gremlins in the theater.  Every time he tells the story, the number of kids changes (he had it up to eight at one point), but every time, the family never lasts too much longer past the Gremlin blowing up in the microwave.  The family gets up and starts walking off, and dad's friend next to him yells out, "HEY!  DOWN IN FRONT!", just to be a dickweed.

Doctor Who?

I also voted for South Park because I knew it would really tick Issac off.

Gah, tough choice. I'm a mega Python fan (and I've been slowly losing my interest in South Park over the years), so I should go with Life of Brian. But dammit, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is simply a funnier movie, so I'll have to give it the nod.
