In Star-Wars episode 1, during a wide-shot of the tatooine desert, Kevin says (in a funny voice): "This used to be, the pacific ocean."

Like several mst3k jokes, I have no clue where the joke came from or what it means, but to me, it's still intensely funny. If somebody could tell me what that quote comes from, then I'll feel like I'm laughing at it for a reason.
Moses! Move the bike!

It might not be a quote.  It might just be a quip on global warming.

Pak-Man

I think he was trying to channel a documentary voice (I don't know if he was going for a particular voice) but big deserts are almost always revealed in documentaries to have been underwater once upon a time. :^)

I was pretty sure it was an Al (Net-daddy) Gore riff on An Inconvenient Truth.

Yeah, that's definitely what I thought it was. The voice was very Al Gore-ish.

I just figured it was just a reference to how every Discovery-type thing that features a desert always tells us that it was once an ocean.
