But i actually searched Thee Michelle Gun Elephant out online, and saw comparisons to The Stooges and MC5. Unfortunately none of the links were working, and none of them had any audio clips. But now i've got something new to look out for on my next trip to Amoeba!

I have one word for you: relentless. This is the kind of music you play in the morning to clear all those with hangovers out... unless, of course, they're headbanging party animals... in which case, you'd probably end up getting more damage caused to your place.

It takes several listens to really digest what's going on with a band like this. Those unfamiliar with brutal death probably won't stick around, but there's something here for everyone who really enjoys metal. Hell, even the bass is audible (a rarity in heavy music)!

I get the feeling while listening to this disc (yes, I'm back to listening to CDs for now) that it would be perfect to listen to on acid. That's probably mainly due to the band's lyrical subject matter, which is essentially all about outer space, alien invaders, etc.

It's not often that a new album is released that really catches my fancy, but Antithesis is right up there with ObZen by Meshuggah for album of the year honors.
