Coincidentally, I just flipped over to side B and guess which track leads it off? Yep.. you guessed it!

I'd say Whalberg definately qualifies as really good.

Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance

Since I just got my new turntable, I've been listening to nothing but vinyl.. and there have been no exceptions. I got this one a couple years back directly from Pete Hammoura, former drummer of Nile and it sounds wonderful!

I wonder how the Bay Area Audiophile Society would react if someone put this LP on a $10,000 turnable and let it spin...

You know, that reminds me that I need to rob a bank to get the funds to pick up one of those laser turntables.

NP:

Rush - Permanent Waves

Continuing the trend of listening to vinyl records, I chose this one mainly for Jacob's Ladder. The sound quality isn't that great at The Spirit of Radio. I believe it to be due to needing a good cleaning.

Again, I don't have an image, but I'm currently listening to:

Del the Funky Homosapien - Phoney Phranchise 12" single

Tracks include:

1. Phoney Phranchise (Del mix)
2. Phoney Phranchise (Domino remix)
3. Phoney Phranchise (Remix instrumental)
4. Press Rewind
5. Press Rewind (instrumental)
6. Master Minds

The only crappy thing about this release is that it's edited. A big FUCK YOU to Ken Lee, who is "credited" for editing out "offensive" words.

Dr. Dooom - First Come, First Served

There are some funky beats and hilariously straight jabs at major bitches in the rap industry at the time of the release. Nice spooky atmosphere throughout the album... and oh yeah, did I mention I was listening to this on vinyl?

...but MrTorso's avatar reminded me that I have a Carlin LP somewhere, so I will listen to a bit of:

Well, inbetween having this

(Coldplay--Viva la Vida)
on a constant loop I have been listening to

Oasis--Definitely Maybe
and

Poe--Haunted. I need to see if she has a new one out yet....
Edit: Crap, it looks like she doesn't

Sample lyrics:

I miss El Duce. He was a complete piece of crap but he was fun to watch in a train wreck kind of thing. I am still kicking myself for missing the Mentors when they hit Miami for the last time. I had to work 15 hours straight to get some shit done before I could go to the MST3K convention so I wussed out and didn't hit the bar after work to see them. El Duce was killed (by Courtney Love!!) not long after.

The last great Urge Overkill record. Other than a couple of tracks on Saturation I could never get into their major label offerings. Exit the Dragon was a cut-out before it was even released. Nash Kato's solo record has some moments but for the most part it is pretty forgettable.  I was lucky to get to play with them a couple of times. The first time we brought them to Miami in 91 when they were touring for Supersonic. The second time they brought us up to chicago to play with them at the Cubby Bear. Nash kind of a egomaniac but Eddie and Blackie were awesome. They are also amazing drinkers. We loaded in at the Cubby Bear at 1:00pm and Nash was drinking straight from 2:00 pm to 11:00pm when they went on. I even saw him do like 5 jello shots in there too.

RVR II

Doktor Sleepless

When I heard our song on the radio
It reminded me of us
Another love song on the radio
Another full moon broken heart

I spent a life time on the open road
Between the lion and a farm
You gave me oil, I was a rusty load
You even helped me find my heart

And what could I know about love,
I was sleeping but now I'm woke up

I gotta girl and she's the telephone
And she just listens and I talk
And we've been steady for a month or so
I really think she could be the one

And what could I know about love,
I was sleeping but now I'm woke up
I'm just steel, I'm not blood Sometimes the little things make us stuck

The country's no place for a robot
It made my circuits hot
And now there's a place I can call home
You gave me a brand new start

Have you seen the lion and the scarecrow
I had heard they both got jobs
It seems like such a long time ago, When we were hunting for Oz
Round about now! Since they say! I am the sexiest man in Jamaica!
