Thought I'd revive the thread, as it's due out this weekend.  It looks pretty good, and Roger Ebert gave it a glowing review on his website:

Anybody watching this?

Yeah. Roger Ebert was also one of the very few people who gave a good review to The Happening, so I don't put a whole lot of faith in his reviews.

I'm not trying to be rude (there is, after all, only one Rude), but do you really think this movie looks good? I've seen a lot of trailers for it and they all look god-awful. It looks like Steve Martin's Pink Panther movie.

Steve Carrell needs a new agent. Seriously.

Yeah, it looks pretty funny.  Different strokes, I guess.

And I hope it's not as bad as the Pink Panther movie...

Voice of dissent: I think it looks pretty dec.  Something I can take my cousins to go see and that I can enjoy too.  On RT it has a 52%, faring far better than the movies that will ultimately kill it, Love Guru ( with a measely 15%) and Zohan (34%).

Pak-Man

I'm gonna see if I can talk Tyrant into hitting this one with me. She usually shies away from comedies, but this one really looks good and relatively classy as comedies these days go. Plus I LOVED watching the original series on Nick at Nite back in the day. :^)

Mel Brooks loved the movie.

I enjoyed The Pink Panther just fine.

This Sunday. I'm trying not to give reviews too much credence, especially given how utterly wrong they were about Speed Racer.

You're probably right, Courtney, but it may be done in by the comedy hit of the summer:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0949731/

Well, my roommate and his "boyfriend" have class, so we can't go to the movies tonight, thank goodness because we'd be seeing The Love Guru, so I'll be seeing it sometime this weekend

I think it looks fun. My sister and I are going Saturday. I think the last movie we saw together was Underdog (NOT my choice!), so we're stepping waaaaaaaaaaay up in class.

Mel Brooks loved the movie
Richard Donner also loved Superman Returns, so that's no indication.

Tripe

Having seen the directors cut of Superman II, it might be.

I'm confused, do you mean you thought the Director's cut of Superman 2 was good or bad? I personally liked it a lot better than the original version.

Tripe

I thought it was utter shite.

"Directors Cut" doesn't always mean better.

Mel Brooks no doubt gets a cut in the film...he has a vested interest in it doing well no matter how bad it might be....

As far as Cartell needing a new agent...the agent isn't writing and directing these things.  And with Cartell supposedly being the "new hope" of comedy you'd think he'd have enough muscle to make these movies better - if he was the talent everyone says.

Some people are just great on TV and mediocre on film (David Duchovny, for example).

I've just been nervous about why The Rock is in this...and featured so prominantly.
