That being said, what is the point of a Director's Cut when it is SHORTER than the Theatrical Release?

Well sometimes it makes the movie better, such as the Director's cut of Free Willy in which when Willy finally leaps out of the water, Willy falls on the kid and crushes him.

David

FTW = 'for the win'. The same 'for the win' used on Jeopardy. It's yet another exclamation of excitement I guess.
I know, the internet is weird.

You know, a lot of movies would be better off with that ending......

Raven

FTW to me means Fare thee well.  Not that often that "thee" can translate to text abbreviations.

Read the Directors Preface. Director actually was pressured into making the DC even though he thought it was perfect already.

The directors cut contains six minutes of footage that wasn't in the original, but edits were made throughout the entire movie to tighten the whole thing up.  So there is a bunch of new footage, as well as removing little pieces here and there.  Don't try to synch it up to the theatrical release, it won't be fun.

Next time the riff should be on something like Blade Runner or Metropolis, which had like, 30 releases each.

Alexander has gotta be getting up there too.  The director himself can't even make up his mind on his cut.
