AAAUUUGGGHH WHYWHYWHYWHYWHY?!!

Seriously, though, what the lava crapping HELL? I guess there weren't that many releases this weekend, but... but this is just intolerable. What's the appeal?
Did anyone see this?

Tripe

Sex and the City appeals to women who rarely have sex.

And based on the coverage I see in some of the magazines Ann subscribes to (she also hates SatC incidentally) the movie should really be called Handbags, Shoes, Angst and the City.

"Sex and the City" grossed an amazing estimated $56 million in its debut to become the highest opening ever for an R-rated comedy"

must be a lot of women rarely have sex.

If I weren't seeing Kung Fu Panda and Zohan this week, I'd probably go see this.

According to a number of recent surveys that would be appear to be the case. ;)

I'm more surprised that Made of Honor is up there, at all.  I mean, come on, do we really need a role-reversed My Best Friend's Wedding?

Dim of the Yard hears a knock on the door.
She goes to see who it is.
A man wearing a business suit with "Studio Executive" painted on it asks her,
"Are you Dim of the Yard?"
"Uh... yes?"
*SMACK*
"YES WE FUCKING DO." says the Exec, then briskly walks away.

LOL

As for this icky film. I would like to confess that although I love my brother very much, he did go see the film with his wife this weekend. Sometimes, my brother and I couldn't be less alike....

Well... consider me schooled, then.  (walks away, rubbing face and muttering to self)

What Happens in Vegas.  REALLY?  I'm more surprised about that one than Made of Honor.  There's a LOT of Grey's fans out there who love themselves some Dempsey, but hasn't Kutcher's day in the sun ended?  And are there still people who enjoy Diaz's "ha! I'm such a guy's girl and I love burping and I don't really get sports but I love watching them and yelling really loud and I love boys!" shtick?  Ugh.

The Sex & the City phenomenon is one I don't get.  I could go on for hours at great lengths, but I'll spare you.  Basically, the show had its moments where the characters had real depths and flaws and were really fucked up, but the show gave itself this glossy glammy sparkly sheen over all of it and turned itself into this ideal fairy tale for women.  If it were smarter, I'd say that was the point, that it was a satire putting messed up people with real issues into this gorgeous package, but yeah that's not the case at all because those moments of real character were pretty fleeting.

I feel sorry for all the boyfriends and husbands who were dragged kicking and screaming into the theater to watch this monstrosity with their significant other.

Eww.  Even if I was into the Sex and the City fad, I wouldn't drag my boyfriend into this movie.  This is the sort of thing that more or less screams for a night out with the girls.  Bringing a guy would just defeat the purpose, and would be downright barbaric for the poor guy.

And would further compound the problem faced by the women who enjoy this movie that I described earlier. :)

I only say that because the entertainment news will usually show people leaving the theater after the show or cueing up beforehand, and there's always a few guys who look VERY out of place...  Not to mention miserable.

Every once in a while a movie comes along that I know I will never, ever watch.  This is one of those.
