Chase & Big Te(i)x, I'd like to thank you for this line on Monday...

5 for 10
2 runs
10 RBIs
1 SB

I was more excited about that than the Crew's win. This fantasy baseball stuff is so counter-productive with my love of the Crew.

So k1, let me get this straight. As of Monday, we already have Kapler & Gagne, and now we added Tavarez. Would you like us to take Lugo off your hands too?  :P

Oh and let the Jay Bruce era begin! I'm so happy I snagged him up yesterday morning.

YES. then the Jed Lowrie era can begin!

Bob

Why are the Brewers stocking up on failed Cardinal pitchers (at least 3 and counting).   Hmmmm, maybe you can take Izzy off our hands.

Or Pineiro.  Then it's a combo of Red Sox/Cards all in one convenient injury!

PSL, I hope you weren't bunching Suppan into that trio. He was your 2006 NLCS MVP. He's what I was expecting from a 3 or 4 starter in the rotation. Unfortunately for him, he no longer has the Cardinal's astute defense behind him.

Weaver's possibly gone come Sunday. He has the opportunity to leave the organization if we don't promote him by then. I'm pretty sure he's sporting a modest 6.69 ERA at Nashville right now for us. He's more than welcome to seek out a roster spot elsewhere in my opinion.

On the topic of Nashville, Turnbow's Nashville stats as of this moment are the following:

4 1/3 IP
5 Hits
15 Walks
4.62 WHIP

He's cooked.

As for Tavarez, gah! I don't want any piece of this punk on my team.

Go Crew!

Who knows maybe Tavarez will get in a fight with a phone in the dugout again.  That made for some fun playoff baseball when he did that.

Speaking of Tavarez... Looks like he left his WS ring in his locker in Boston when he left.

Why am I not surprised?

Although this quote should make you shudder:
"On the upside, it is entirely possible that Tavarez could at some point hand the ball off directly to Eric Gagne in a meaningful playoff race game this season. Ponder that one for a minute before finding a corner where you can hurl."

It's official now...dammit.

My favorite Tavarez moment transpired in our first year in the NL. After he ended an inning for the Giants, he stared down the Brewers' dugout and flexed his muscle. Yeah, he's such an asshat. I believe he threw an umpire down during his fiasco w/ Matheny as well.

Gagne, I don't have any idea what we're going to do with him. DFA for all I care, and place Doug Melvin on watch immediately. His moves has been very suspect the past couple of seasons on top of his decision to stick with Yost. I saw that you picked up Torres. That was a nice pickup as he's been the rock in our bullpen this season, and I hope he has the closer's job for the rest of our season.

Last night, I was stung twice by Saito. Not only did he blow the save for me, but worse off...to the Cubbies! *shakes fists*

And if Seth McClung picks up the win this afternoon, I'm officially starting the fan club. He just escaped a first-inning, bases-loaded scenario.

Go Seth!

Here in Boston we don't appreciate our Sox games getting interrupted by idiots.

Bravo!!   ANYONE who runs on the field should be treated this way.    They could have a weapon, they could be nuts, anything.    They could be just drunk guys looking for fun, but why should a player or an ump take that risk.

Almost as good as the Dick Butkus closeline of some drunk fan running on the field.

Almost as good as the fat drunk jumping in the penalty box after Tie Domi sprayed him with water.

ZOMG!  Prior is done for the season!

I know it's a common occurrence, but it's sad watching this happen year-after-year. You just knew Wood would eventually run into issues with his poor mechancis, but Prior? No...and you can point the proverbial finger at none other than Dusty Baker for the excessive pitch counts both undertook under his reign early in their careers. Later on, I'll have to see how Dusty's been handling Cueto & Volquez to date, and if I'm Homer Baily, keep me in Triple-A, please?

Dusty "The Only Difference Between Playing First-Base & Third Base Is the Glove" Baker, when's Steve Phillips becoming a general manager again?

Fun Fact: The last time the Cubs had the best record in the Majors on June 1st, they won the World Series, 100 years ago. 23 of their next 32 games are on the road...good luck.

And my fantasy crush on Chase Utley is this big...

*spreads arms out wide*

Didn't Dusty in an extra inning game last week put Cueto in to pitch an inning on Saturday after he had JUST started a game on Friday?

Someone should stop Dusty now.   What an idiot.

Oh dear god, that's right. I remember a buddy from work telling me about that 18 inning Reds/Padres game from a little over a week ago. It was crazy. Dusty tossed Harang and Volquez on two/one days rest.

Harang - 103 pitches on Thursday, 63 pitches on Sunday
Volquez - 92 pitches on Friday, 39 pitches on Sunday and the loss

If I was a Red's fan, I'd have been happy Volquez lost it in the 18th. Who knows, with Baker's track record, he'd probably have pitched him for another 2 innings.

I still sympathize for Red's fan with the hire of Baker. I'm surprised he's starting Bruce. Playing by Dusty's book, he's clogging up the base paths with that .690 OBP to date.

And PSL, how does Braden Looper have 7 wins?  :P

Cardinals have 5 starting pitchers on the DL now and seem to be specializing on taking short relievers and making them starters.

Hope it holds up until the DL guys come back.
