Chaos

Chris and I have actually had very long discussions about this.

I, Robot IS a good movie, IF you ignore the blatant product placement, and IF you pretend that it isn't based on Asimov's work. As a kick back and relax action romp, it's actually quite entertaining. The only thing that actually makes it a bad movie is that it tries to pretend that it is I, Robot. :)

I'm going to have to check out the DC of Kingdom of Heaven.  I started watching the theatrical cut, and it was so bad, about a half hour in I switched it off (something I almost never do).

Oh, and I like Proyas too.  Sorry Ed.

That's more or less my take on it.  I had to watch it for a class and was pleasantly surprised by it.

Every movie is good if you ignore all of the bad things in it!

It's a good theory, but I feel I must disagree with your logic. Some movies have so many bad things in them that if you ignore those things, you only get the ending credits. And what if the songs it ends with suck? Then you haven't even watched the movie at all, meaning the entire movie wasn't good.

If you don't believe me, try watching Bloodrayne.

If you haven't watched a movie, then can't really rate it as good OR bad though, right? So I guess you could then say, it doesn't count as a movie, and my logic still works.

I liked I, Robot too for the very reasons everybody else is saying...all they did was take Dr. Calvin's name from the book, take the 3 laws, and a couple of weird things that happen in the books happens in the movie. So they just used those things so they could use I, Robot as the title...nobody would have seen it without the title I, Robot...

But yeah, if you don't think about those things, that it is a fantastic action movie.

But if I can blame this guy for the travesty that was X-men 3...then I will feel better about it. How dare he take away what could have been the coolest comic book movie ever.

Under Rothman's watch, Fox's movies (particularly their summer blockbusters) are mandated to not run under two hours in order to fit in more theater showings (thus automatically guaranteeing more money).

That makes no sense.

I couldn't get my head around that one either.

You know, I'll agree that X3 wasn't as good as the first two.  But as a comic book movie, it's still fine.  Better than all of the Spider-Man movies and The Hulk and the Fantastic Four movies and the last 2 80's/90's Batman movies, and Punisher, and...etc.

It's better (slightly) than a punch in the eye too, that doesn't make it good.

And it wasn't.

Okay...it was an okay movie, but It still didn't hold up to Xmen 2.

Spiderman 2 is my favorite comic book movie though...

I haven't seen (nor do I want to see) I, Robot. But I own and really like Dark City.  Why's that bad?

I haven't watched the movie since it was fairly new, so I can't have a decent arguement about it, but the two things I strongly remember about it (aside from it just being BORING) was that:

1) It spells everything out in a way that makes the movie a lot less interesting. (I believe there's narration at the start setting the whole thing up, rather than letting the audience actually have to think, yes?)

2) The LAMEST most ANTI-CLIMACTIC ending to a movie about people with God-like powers EVER!

Since there's a new director's cut for Dark City coming out in July, maybe it's time to re-visit it, Ed.  They might fix what you didn't like about it.  I haven't seen it since it first came out, so I'll definitely be checking it out.  I honestly don't remember much about it, I only remember liking it.  And I remember something about guys who float around.

It might, it might, but I haven't liked any of Alex's movies, so I doubt it...

In fact he directed one of the two movies I've ever walked out of a cinema in. (Garage Days)

I have never seen The Crow but I think I am probably too old to like that movie now anyway. :P

I saw yesterday they've signed him up to direct the new Silver Surfer movie. Well, I guess they aren't going to be fixing that franchise!

I'm not even sure how a Silver Surfer movie is going to work.  Proyas certainly has the technical capability to make it look good, and I enjoyed The Crow and Dark City.  It's good news for me.  :)
