So which version of the DVD do we use for this?

There seem to be two versions of the DVD available on Amazon: the Full-screen theatrical release, and the Wide-screen "directors cut" unrated version. I normally assume the Rifftrax is done using the theatrical release, so I would normally just purchase that one...but I can't stand full-screen versions of movies that were originally filmed in wider format. Maybe the special unrated version also comes with the theatrical release, too?

Does anybody know which version of the DVD to use, in order to have the Rifftrax sync up correctly?

Widescreen director's cut.

I'm adding a note to the product page now.

$.01 used on Amazon.  Can't get much cheaper than that even with the shipping.

I can't believe they have the nerve to call this release "unrated", as if it were too shocking for the censors to rate properly.  Content-wise it should be PG, though it might make PG-13 for creepiness alone.

"UNRATED" hasn't meant what it used to imply for many many years. Unrated was the big taboo especially with horror flicks. It was a big deal when they were released unrated. It usually meant gore far beyond what you got in a R film. Now it is nothing more than a marketing gimmick.

I just bought one of the 1 penny DVDs from Amazon too. It cost me nearly $13 with shipping to Australia, but I REALLY want to see this 'trax, so it does not bother me at all.

Um, I'm guessing there will be a lower turn over given how scared a lot of the people here are of non-MST3K folks, maybe Matthew could record one with one or two of the other guys so that folks can be introduced to him?
FINE

In reality it probably just means the filmmakers never submitted that version of the film for review by the ratings board.

Can someone find the cover of this DVD so I know for sure which copy I'm buying? I'm coming up empty at the moment.

A pound?  It's 1 cent on the US Marketplace.  That's 1/200 of a pound according to Google.  You're paying 200 times more than I did.  Then again, I paid 600 times more for expedited shipping than I did for the DVD itself.

Maybe so, but it is just a marketing gimmick.  Sales always go through the roof with "unrated" movies simply because people think they are going to see something that they "couldn't" show in the theaters (more gore, nudity, etc) and that is a large selling point.

Wow.  The dollar's value really has taken a beating lately.

I did think about getting a copy from the states, but I would've paid 12 dollars for shipping.  Not really worth it.  :)

No!  Spend your money with the US Postal Service.  Give in to your desires.
