Well, darn. This one's too gory for us old folks, so my Rifftrax collection will no longer be complete.

Perhaps if someone was to make alternate video for this that was less gory? Maybe with hand puppets or something?  ;)

But this movie... um... Is the whole thing going to be like the opening riffing to Xmen?
What happened to all the good "goofy" movies like Wonka or Roadhouse?

Please read the (extremely long) thread from the last 20 questions.

Can you sum it up for us, please?  :)

The short, short version: The obscure stuff doesn't sell as well.

I can:  There's always a new movie around the corner.  Doing Saw this week doesn't mean we won't do something else down the road.

AND with RiffTrax Presents... there will most likely be more frequent releases and selection because there will be more Riffers!  ;D

Which means more work for me.  :speechless:   Hahaha...

I get to buy a Cary Elwes movie now, and even though it (unlike many Cary Elwes movies) wasn't funny before, it will be now.

Au contraire, mon frere.  Saw was extremely funny before, largely because Elwes' acting (and accent) are hysterically bad throughout.  The jumpcuts-in-lieu-of-directing and the completely retarded twist ending are pretty humorous, too.

As a horror fan, I heartily approve of this RiffTrax Presents release.  If what it takes for them to riff a horror film is for Mike to sit it out, then so be it.  Maybe we'll get a new solo riff out of it, to boot.

I've never seen any of the Saw franchise because it's not my thing.  Gruesomeness doesn't entertain me.

But I will watch it now... because now it's a RiffTrax.  And funny entertains me.

So you'd better be funny, Murphy & Corbett!   :: shakes fist ::

I would like to jump in and defend my sweet Westley.  In his defense, everyone's acting sucked in this movie (Glover might have been the worst actually) so I think they were poorly directed and reading dumb lines.  My theory has always been that James Wan doesn't know how to direct people and Leigh Whannell doesn't know how to write dialogue.  But dammit they know torture and dummies and they know twist endings, and dammit they're gonna use 'em.  And again, this is coming from someone who actually really likes this movie.

Don't get me wrong, I like Elwes, and I share your contempt for Wan and Whannell -- oh, how I share it!  But bad direction and writing doesn't excuse Cary's morphing accent, nor the kind of painfully stilted delivery on display here.  Which is really too bad, because it makes it a lot more difficult to defend what is generally a pretty decent modern horror film.

Danny Glover probably does do a worse job, but his character's presence in the film is so totally pointless and inconsequential that I barely notice him.

Have you ever seen The Crush?  Seriously.  I am a total broken record about this movie, but A) it's (unintentionally) hilarious, and B) his accent does the most insane things I've ever heard.  It's amazing.  He can't even say Alicia Silverstone's character's name.  It's ADR'd and still sounds ridiculous.  My man cannot do accents.

Nope, but I have now been convinced to seek it out for derision-heaping purposes.

And in a shocking development, he's playing a creepy apparent psychotic.
