...

Are you talking about locking the actual thread... or just the poll? Because the poll is locked right now, so no one can actually still vote or anything. No reason to lock the thread and end the debate. I mean, we have to argue about the results now don't we?!

No I actually meant the thread.

But it's fine not to, just suggesting it :)

I was thinking this thread might have brought about the appocalypse. Now, we may only have delayed the inevitable.

I meant to ask a question to all the English teachers we seem to have among us, does the movie include the scene where a rabid dog randomly shows up and gets shot? I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of the right book. If it wasn't for "Where the Red Fern Grows", TKaM would have to be disqualified for gratuitious unecessary slaughter of beloved animals.

It does include the rabid dog scene in the movie.

The glow of childhood memories is bright and mesmerizing.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

yeah im not gonna vote for to kill much more than this, but i felt it was a better made, acted, written movie than star wars.  i feel that there is more to a movie than MERELY i like to watch it.  i realize both are equallably suggestive but the problem i have with the " I like to watch this more than the other" line of thinking is that titanic will probably be the "best" movie based on people wanted to watch it more than any other movie in history

sarcasm_made_Easy

ok then this is acedemic right?  doesnt that basically constitute the movie that sells the most wins?

sarcasm_made_Easy

my point is that we would already know the most popular movie.  its the one with the best sales.  hell books are same way really.  if i think hop on pop is a better written book than moby dick then clearly its a better written book, and the fact that we are paying money for smart proffessors to tell us why that may not be so is just silly.

sarcasm_made_Easy

why is that.  i think its perfectly sound.  If enjoyment is the mere basis for determining what movie is the "best" then you go with the obvious metric, how many times people are willing to pay to see it.  If that can be applied in that sense to movies then why not books?  how many people are willing to pay to read?  by that estimate assuming we remove the bible then harry potter is basically the best book ever written.

sarcasm_made_Easy

sigh, ok what are you trying to get at man.  I read your post whcih you put there twice, and seems just as pointless as it did the first time.  In a vote of this sort the movie that sold the most will 99% of time win the thread because most people liked it.  if thats all we are trying to decide then lets just get boxoffice.com metrics up here for each and call it a day.  I spose that you could say that the board itself will have different results than the world, but then we are merely trying to find out what each other likes most.  Thats hardly the same as the question which movie is best.  do you feel that the question is without meaning?

Nick

What exactly are you trying to debate here Sarc? I don't have official numbers, but I'm pretty sure that Star Wars outsells TKAM a million to one in everything, and yet it is still going on to the next round. Are you saying that this board is voting for the movie that made the most money, because I don't feel that is the case. Hell. for a while, TKAM was beating New Hope's ass in the polls.
Killing me won't bring back your Goddamned honey!
