Im going with Jake Lloyd. Yes he was annoying. But he was a kid. Hayden Christensen has no excuse.

Edit: I restart the poll. I thought it would be fair to add everybody who played Anakin Skywalker and reset the poll so everyone could vote. Even tho it kinda makes it a no brainer whos the best Anakin Skywalker (aka James Earl Jones or maybe Sebastian Shaw). So i guess my vote is for mr Jones.

A true Zen koan for the new millenium. Which is drier, the rain or the ocean?

Nah, Christensen redeemed himself with Ep. 3 in my book.

Lloyd was altogether annoying.

How about James Earl Jones?  I'd vote for the bad Anakin every time.

James Earl Jones had more acting quality in his voice than either Lloyd or Christensen had in their entire bodies put together.

I think the idea here is more of a 'who is not the most awful Anakin', since the three or four guys who were playing him in the original trilogy actually came off pretty well.

Bah!  Prowse is the one true Vader!

What's a proformance?  ;D

I'd argue that James Earl Jones never actually played Anakin, nor did David Prowse. Combined they did a decent job, but let's face it, Darth Vader is not a demanding role. Walk around, gesture, breathe heavily and say your lines overdramatically. As for Sebastian Shaw, he had, what? Five lines at the end of Jedi? And yet he still gives Hayden Christensen a run for his money...

Sebastian Shaw.

Many years from now I will remember his five lines of dialogue after Luke unmasks him much more fondly than anything presented by Jake or Hayden. I'm not trying to slam the other two actors. Jake Lloyd may be limited, even when compared to the average child actor, but considering that there were no redeeming performances at all in Episode One it simply can't be just his fault. Seeing all he had was hackneyed dialouge and vague, confusing motivations... Hayden did do a decent enough job in Episode Three.

I won't count the great James Earl Jones. I consider Vader to be a seperate character than Anakin, at least from the standpoint of how I figure an actor would approach the role.

I voted for James Earl Jones, but I have to admite Sebastian Shaw would be a close second. Maybe only because he has so little screen time.

Wierdly enough, I didn't like Episode 3 all that much.  I thought it was well directed, but the dialogue/writing grated on me from start to finish.

"Padme, NOOOOOO!!!!!!"

I can't blame Christiansen for the quality of dialogue, but I'm not really a fan of his portrayal of Anakin.

Check out Matthew Stover's book version of 3 though.

Sebastian shaw was truly the best Anakin Skywalker, with James Earl Jones in a very, VERY close 2nd place and Haydn and Jake are distant 3rd and 4th, respectively.
