QuoteI mean Fight the Future? Has anyone ever figured out WTF that meant?

I think it had to do with the set date that the aliens were going to colonize the earth, and how Mulder and Scully were trying to prevent that from happening.

Yeah, if you watched the show you would know what that title meant.  Pretty straight forward.

oOOOOooooh, burn on me I guess.

Wait, no... it's still a dumb title with no meaning to general audiences. Future = bad? They should have called it "X-Files: Fight The Action Figures."

bettertomorrowamy

The movie was meant for the fans.  It was an extension of the conspiracy from the show.  That's all you need to know to understand the title Mr. Devil's Advocate.

I watched both and never understood it. I remember something about bees though. They should have gone with "X-Files: Attack of the Killer Bees and Also Some Aliens We Ripped Off From Other Movies."

I shouldn't feed trolls but here, I'll break it down for you:

Fight:  any contest or struggle: a fight for recovery from an illness.

The:     (used to mark a proper noun, natural phenomenon, ship, building, time, point of the compass, branch of endeavor, or field of study as something well-known or unique): the sun; the Alps; the Queen Elizabeth; the past; the West.

Future:  something that will exist or happen in time to come: The future is rooted in the past.

There, is that clear enough for you or should I define each consonant and vowel with its history and place of origin?

If you love the title so much, why don't you marry it?

Where did Fight the Future come from, the title is X-Files: I Want To Believe

Haha. Fight the Future was the "title" of the last X-Files movie, althought most sane people just called it The X-Files Movie, since "Fight the Future" was made to look more like a poster slogan. (Ironically, "I want to believe" actually IS a poster slogan).

If bratpop doesn't hate on something, what else is he going to do? Dare I say it, he might *gasp* enjoy something? But he has his sense of negativity and sarcasm and that gives him his schtick around here and we love you for it bratpop. :-*

Wouldn't it be easier to just not care at all?
That's what I'm doing.   ;)

Spoiler
QuoteComingSoon has noticed that the novelization of the upcoming "X-Files: I Want to Believe" has revealed the plot of the movie, even though 20th Century Fox has tried to keep it a secret. This isn't the first time that we see books and soundtracks reveal information about films and it won't be the last.

Here is how the "X-Files: I Want to Believe" novelization, by Max Allan Collins, describes the plot: "When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest's questionable "visions" send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women's disappearance. It's a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dr. Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere... and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!"

The Chris Carter-directed film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 25th.

How do you not "notice" that the novelization has revealed the plot of the movie? Isn't that the point of a novelization? Ah, internet journalism.

And wow. Is it me, or does that description sound like a movie you'd see on MST3k?

It's just a teaser poster.  It does tease me.  I must admit though, any new X-Files would be yum-yum, candy heart goodness for me as long as there is no "Liquid Metal Terminator" in this movie.

eh..... I liked Doggett well enough I just couldn't stand the constant "Where's Mulder? Where's Mulder?" story lines.
