You bought it because they blurred Eddie's skeleton? What the hell does that mean?

I'm not sure either.  I did find it interesting, to use the word very lightly, that they didn't even use the name "venom" in the movie.

I thought it was so obvious that the newscasters would have said, "Sources have now identified the assailant as being named Venom, an alien symbiote who had previously concealed itself in the form of Spider-Man's costume and made him act irrationally even though the public never saw evidence of this." And of course followed that up with a report about whether black was still back or not. Stupid writers!

This is a very long, bitter story. You see, we Venom fans in the Spider-man Hype! Boards were scratching our heads because the Anti-Venom Mob was telling us Eddie and Venom were dead, that we'd never see him in another movie (Let alone a solo spin off movie.) because Eddie had been reduced to a skeleton, therefore making any future appearances null and void. Basically, over at my favorite place, the Superhero Hype! forums there was a heated debate about whether or not you could see the skeleton of Eddie Brock when he and the symbiote were vaporized by the Pumpkin Bomb that these Haters were talking about.  With much eye strain you could make out a skeleton when the movie was in theaters right as the Pumpkin Bomb was exploding. I had read a rumor that on the DVD release this skeleton was blurred to make the spotting of said skeleton harder to do because of Marvel's plans of giving Venom his own spinoff. I wanted to see if this was the case. I apologize but I must have thought everybody was a Hype User when I made my statement. So this should clarify why I bought it to see if I could spot Eddie's skeleton.

Is it weird to hear the Safety Dance in my head watching Game of Thrones?

Uh, I still think he's pretty much dead. He can't turn to dust like Sandman. Venom could be anywhere, but not Brock. They could just bring in Eddie Brock, Sr. instead. Why else point out that he's "JUNIOR!!!!!!!!" so forcefully?

There's just one problem. There's no such character as Eddie Brock Sr. Here's a direct panel scan from the Venom, Lethal Protector miniseries that had an appearance by Eddie's Father in it. And yes, I own alot of Venom comics in my collection.

There is a CARL Brock but no Eddie Sr. Honestly, where the hell did Raimi pull Eddie Brock Jr. from unless in comic continuity Eddie has a distant relative named Eddie Brock. This shows you how sloppy Raimi's research into the Venom character was and it angers me to no end he couldn't at least ring Marvel up and ask them about Eddie's relatives. As far as the symbiote claiming another Brock, the only close family member to ever "wear" the Venom symbiote was Eddie's ex-wife Ann Weying, and even then that experience drove her insane causing her to commit suicide. Venom even despised his last possessor, Mac Gargan so much that Gargan feared the symbiote. Call it playing head games with his host I guess.

*Edit* Call it a theory of mine, but I think the Venom Symbiote was particularly fond of Eddie Brock. They both shared a common goal and that was to destroy Peter Parker because of their mutual hatred of the wall crawler. All other hosts are meaningless to it. Of course Eddie's brain tumor does help since it produces an excess of the enzyme the symbiote needs to survive alleviating it's need to consume it's hosts entire brain stem thereby killing the host in the process.

Crowmeus

In Ultimate Spider-Man, there is an Eddie Brock Sr, who worked with Richard Parker, Peter's dad. So, like the organic webbing, the movies once again dipped into the Utimate Universe for that.

What is this obsession with the Ultimate line? There's like 20 - 40 years worth of continuity from the comics that made these characters popular. I can't tell you how much I hate the Ultimate line.
