Is Kevin Murphy officially a regular RiffTrax riffer now?

Ever since Halloween, he's been doing every new RiffTrax with Mike.  If he is now a regular, it's pretty cool.

I wouldn't get your hopes up.  Sound like they are just taking advantage of a nice opportunity.  I predict Mike will be alone or with some one else after the holidays.

BathTub

yes, as the last time this was asked and from the SA interview, it just sounds like Kevin came out to the west coast for a month or 2, so they got him in all they could.

Didn't Mike suggest at one point the possibility of rifftrax being done without him? I'd be interested to see how Kevin came off flying solo...
Not that I want to get rid of Mike, of course. But perhaps they could be released even more often with them being created by two different people simultaneously.

I would be curious to hear another person's take on RiffTrax besides Mike. Not that Mike's not doing a bang-up job, but variety is the spice life, so they say.

It's true, I am the spice of life.

A Rifftrax without Mike... hmmmm.  I think it could work.  It might take some getting used to but we'll all come to accept it eventually.  It'd be really interesting if it was some one we have never heard before.

I don't think I like the idea of a Mike-less rifftrax, but then again that's just my opinion.

I guess I'd still buy the rifftrax, but it wouldn't be as good I think.

MrTorso

I know I would be hesitant to buy a Rifftrax without Mike. When Mike is on a track I know what I am getting, I know his style, I know what to expect.

I'd definatly buy a riff with Kevin flying solo! Or Bill, for that matter. I mean.. You've heard their work with Mike, it can't be much different without Mike. They're both hilarious and witty. My vote is yes.

I seriously doubt Mike would just drop a person into the Riffing chair without working with this person for at least a few trax.

I just don't believe the "hey guys, here is your new riffer, Chet Peterson!  I'm outta here, see ya, Mike" is going to happen.....

Mike will give us plenty of time to get to know any future riffer.

I don't think anyone's suggesting that. If one day they announced "Welcome our new Riffmaster - Tom Green," they'd never sell another download. Plus we'd all show up in San Diego and start a ruckus.

Seeing as how Mike kind of got this whole thing started, I don't think someone else filling his shoes would be appropriate. Team ups, yes. Replacements, no. Even if it were for one track.

I can see this happening if Mike gets sick and loses his voice or something. Or if he retires.

I'd like to see the odd guest riffer, and not necessarily one of the old MST cast (although hearing Joel rip on a movie again would be mighty nice). What about any old celeb MST fans? With some films, I imagine it'd be pretty easy to get an actual cast member to come in and riff with Mike.

BathTub

The legend film/rifftrax guys are probably, "Geeeez Kevin, go home, take a shower already!"

But Seriously it is great that he is in on the project, he's almost done half of them now. I guess it means he is having a good time!

Perhaps the staff could organize an interview or something?
