Does it bug the hell outta' anyone else when they put an actor's name above or under the wrong picture? I know why they do it... but it still bugs me everytime i see something like that. They do it all the time on print ads, movie posters and DVD covers! Argh!

I know there's a legit reason... i actually know the reason. And i know i'm nuts. But i just wanted to vent~

What's the reason? That sometimes names scan better than faces? That top-billing is sometimes more important than the way your face looks?

You aren't nuts.  It always bugged me on J-Proofs posters when he'd do the same thing.  I always try to fix them so they line up on my covers.

Billing (a/k/a pissing contests between agents).

It's the same reason that sometimes one star's name will be to the left but higher than the one on the right (that gets to be "first" because we read right to left).

Brolin isn't a big enough name to carry a movie yet (plus Jones is an Oscar winner - no way his name goes in front of his).  But being the first pic right to left probably made him happy.  Bardem isn't known here but he's a big star overseas.  They tell him center and a little in front is an important spot.  And of course, Jones gets top billing (and he's the type who's probably not as hung up on who is where in the artwork).

yeah, its not that hard to do a horizontal Transform in Photoshop.

Five minutes;copy, copy, paste, paste; a little clone stamp, a little blur tool, and presto!: a correct cover!

And with these, my DVD cabinets are officially full.

Quote from: Imrahil...just trim a bit off the artwork on either side, et voila, a slim dvd case.

Gah! You really do that? Just... just pull out a pair of scissors, and... cut up your DVD inserts?! Sorry, but even as a kid i used to save the packaging from my toys. So hearing that made my head swirl just a little bit. I know, i know... i have problems.

Yeah, that caused me to cringe too!
FINE

So you rather he threw the original inserts away?

Minnesota

I have probably 100 DVD inserts stored away to save shelf space. I put the DVD discs in a caselogic book, but only my best movies get to be on the shelves.

Yeah, because that's the only other option. Either cut them up or throw them all away.  ::)

I really don't care what you do with your own DVDs... seriously. Hold on, let me make that all big and in bold:

I really don't care what you do with your own DVDs.

I was just saying that it caught me off guard that you trim the inserts. Personally, i could never do that... I think it would short curcuit something in my brain! But they're your DVD inserts, use 'em as wallpaper for all i care.  :D

Rude,

About the trimming the DVD inserts....that's like nails on a blackboard to me, too.

Only because I never want to ruin the chance to sell something out of my DVD or CD collection.  And I know that the "Used" stores won't touch anything that doesn't have it's original packaging.

Speaking of which...

And, something I've been meaning to buy for a while now:

Wish I'd known....I'd have sold you mine (I'm saving up for the Complete Set rather than buy the rest individually).   ;)

I really hate some packaging (the Bender's Big Score package will go buh-bye once all 4 of those movies are out; I'll print up a standard "futurama movies collection" label and put them in a 15 mm 4-DVD holder next to my season sets.  I hate "fancy" packaging that sticks out.

The Australian release has regular dvd packaging, a friend of mine bought the US version (so that he could get it a few months early) and I am now very glad I waited!
