STYD is reporting that a 20th Century Fox source has revealed that an "Aliens vs Predator" sequel is a certainty. Back in December, directors Colin and Greg Strause stated that "AVP-R" was meant to lead into another film, which would take place in space. At that point, the studio was taking a "Wait-and-see" approach before proceeding with another installment.

Since another sequel depends on how the last one did, let's take a look at the theatrical results for "AVP-R." The movie had a $10 million opening weekend and went on to earn only $41 million domestically. But thanks to the international markets, the film's worldwide total ended up being around $129 million.

The 2004 first installment (Alien vs Predator) had better results. The film cost $60 million to make, but went on to earn over $170 million in worldwide ticket sales. However, the 2004 movie opened during the summer, while the sequel opened in December.

"Aliens vs Predator: Requiem" is scheduled to hit stores on April 15th.
