I hope that's not what Kevin thinks - I usually respect his opinion on movie stuff.

Me too! I read his book, A Year at the Movies, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The man can only be summed up in one word- Amazing.

Er, Sharktopus wasn't referring to Kevin Murphy - he was referring to Kevin Smith, who mocked the LOTR films in his film, Clerks 2.
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

Lol we went from "lord of the rings fanboys" to "kevin smith fanboys"

(dont get me wrong I like clerks, but how kevin smith is able to make money off of 'evening w/ kevin smith' movies is beyond me. FYI- he came to my college and I presume it was taped so he could make millions selling it to depraved fanboys. I didn't attend)

Such cynicism.

Kevin Smith is a very interesting, funny speaker, and has a lot to say on the topics of filmmaking and Hollywood.

Kevin Smith's an excellent public speaker. He's got some great entertaining stories and is as quick-witted as as the characters he writes. I highly recommend An Evening With Kevin Smith. He tells a great story about his adventure in Paisley park with the batshit crazy Prince, and explains exactly why so many Hollywood movies suck when describing his trials writing a never-made Superman movie.

Except he fails to mention how horrible his superman script was.....

I gotta fourth or fifth the fanboy Kevin Smith thing.  An Evening with Kevin Smith is hilarious, even if you don't like his films, the stories he tells about Prince, Superman, Dogma and Tim Burton are priceless.  I could've done without the students who try and upstage him though.

Kilgore Trout

It would be nice if Mike could provide a version of this one that would work with the Extended Edition. They could just add periods of silence where the new sections are. I wouldn't mind having periods where there's no riffing. Otherwise, I would probably skip this one.

Just go to my guide Kilgore and follow that. When you get to the audio mixing part, just add the silence in yourself. That way, you can still enjoy a great rifftrax. And I know that it is great because I am from the future, and after this rifftrax was released, Bush was impeached and Mike and Kevin were made President and VP.

That pissed me off and made me laugh at the same time. I shouldn't mind, because Randal's pretty much an idiot most of the time, but it still wounded my fanboy pride. I hope that's not what Kevin thinks - I usually respect his opinion on movie stuff. Maybe he'll talk it about it in that new Another Evening DVD.

Kevin Smith said the exact same thing during "The Tonight Show," so, yeah, I think it's safe to assume that he doesn't like the Lord of the Rings films.
It's a pretty inaccurate criticism, given Jackon's unwillingness to do any scenes that don't involve heavy action or specific plot development. Besides, "hours of people walking" is almost literally true of Walkabout (sans the volcano) and that's one of my favorite movies.

Cool. When I get around to authoring my own DVDs I'll have to try that.

It's a weird criticism too.  A bunch of people walking? Of course it is, they're on a quest!

Most films involve people walking.  Hell, Dogma and Jay Silent Bob Strike Back are just a bunch of people walking, if you simplify them.   :)

Oh, thank god! Do we make them emperors or kings afterwards?

I wouldn't say he doesn't like them he just thinks, like I do, that they are insanely, ridiculously overrated. For a while there all 3 films were in the IMDB top ten! Even if you thought they were good movies that's absolutely insane. They are technically very well crafted but are also very very long, plodding, lacking in the charm of Tolkiens original work and in no way critic proof.

Most movies can't get away with having 5 endings but somehow ROTK did and won an Oscar for it. Randal was right!
