Appreciate the family friendly notice

Just a brief note to say I appreciate the "family friendly" notice on Lord of the Rings - after watching Star Trek V, my kid *adores* Rifftrax, so that's handy to know. And, on the other hand, I'm pleased to see Rifftrax geared towards adults (like The Grudge). As I've said before, the absence of network censors at work is such a relief. In the future I hope you'll continue the practice of letting us know which Rifftrax are family friendly.

It's nice to know the approximate content of any given Rifftrax.  To me, it makes sense if the Rifftrax reflects the movie's rating.  In other words, Lord of the Rings is PG-13, so you wouldn't expect a lot of dirty jokes, but in the rated R Roadhouse, I wouldn't mind it if there was swearing and dirty jokes, because of the movie's R rating.

So Let the Rifftrax fit the Rating?  I think I like that policy.  *Nod*

Not to say it should be STRICTLY enforced, but still, it's a good overall guideline.

I dunno. It could be fun to get some raunchy humor in on the riffing of the Smurfs Movie (Just an example. Not a suggestion. :^)) Don't want to open up ye olde cane of worms, but maybe a warning should be included if the Rifftrax is going to oppose the movie rating in any way.

I think this all bounces back to a conversation had when the board first opened.  I feel that the content of the Rifftrax should not exceed the MPAA rating of the movie.  That really just means no f-bombs when riffing My Little Pony: The Movie, not an attempt to totally censor the gang from putting in some more adult content in the more adult skewed movies.

I agree with Pak on this one.  I think that they should not be tied to the rating of a particular film.  And if they wanted to do a more "adult-oriented" rifftrax for an otherwise family friendly film, they should be allowed to do so.  I also think they should attach a notice to the Rifftrax advising parents of that.

For example, if they ever do a G rated film, they might want the riffs to be more towards a PG-13 level.  A simple warning would allow parents to decide for themselves if they want their young ones watching.  Same thing applies for a PG-13 movie with R rated riffs.
