So I'm starting my book soon

Well, not starting...I will be starting my 5th draft soon. As soon as I get the new powercord for my laptop I will start this draft (should be about 3 days).

But here's the thing. I'm leaving on a mission in July or August, so I only have 5 or 6 months to write what I estimate to be a 100,000 word novel (about 400 pages) in that time. That isn't a lot of time. If I write about two pages a day (double my normal writing speed) I will only have about 300 pages when I leave. So I'm going to need to write at least that everyday. This is going to be a huge undertaking, especially for a first time novelist.

So what I'm asking here, is to inquire about as to whether anybody is interested in reading it, as I write it, to help me with continuity, and just some simple grammar mistakes I might make here and there. This would be of great help to me, as I won't have very much time to edit myself, since I will spend most of my time trying to get this thing down.

So if anybody is interested in this, PM me your email address, I will be sending the book using a Microsoft Word Document, and it will be in manuscript format so it might be a weird format for you to read, but when I send it you can just change the format as you wish.

Of course I'm not asking this to be some huge, "read this and get your corrections/comments to me right away!" type thing. If you do this, you can give me any comments, corrections, and such whenever you feel like...within reason of course.

Now what I do ask though, is even though I don't care if you show people my book, I ask you to just no spread it around online or give it to anybody. Publishers are really big on not publishing stuff that has ever been published online before (which is why I don't use blogger or something). Its just a delicate situation, but we are all adults here and I don't think I will have that problem...or will I???

So thanks, to anybody that is interested, I don't need a lot of people, but anybody that wants to read it is welcome.

Oh, and just so you know. This book is for people who like Terry Brooks, or Robert Jordan, or some of the more modern fantasy adventure novelists. It is about a man named Fortis, who lives in a world where the entire land and people in it can be changed by the Alchemic Fire that rains from the sky.

Good luck Fortis. I'd be glad to help. I'll pm my email to you now.

I suck ass at proofreading, but good luck on your novel. I'm an ameteur novelist, too. I've got a fantasy/comedy that I have been working on for a couple years (I can't ever seem to park my ass in front of the computer and work on it). It's sort of a Conan the Barbarian/epic journey parody, poking fun at Post-Tolkien fantasy stereotypes. I'm about 30,000 words in.

Mission? Do mean with the military? If that's the case stay safe (but kick at least a little ass).

I'd be more than happy to take a look over/proofread your draft thus far.  My wife has a Master's in English and I've got one in Clinical Psychology (I'm currently working on my doctorate), so if there is one thing that I'm good at it's reading and proofing.  My wife always made me proof read her hundreds of pages of papers and its something I've grown to enjoy doing.

I was going to say sure but looks like you have enough people. If you fancy a third person's insight feel free to email me, my YIM id is also my main email address.

Awesome this should be great, I'm still waiting on the cord for my laptop, it should be coming today though. But I'm going camping today and tomorrow. So I hope to have my first couple chapters done, in the next week or so.

Thanks for the support, with you guys, and my sister who is an English major at home, and I have a couple of authors I'm going to be sending the occasional chapter to, I think this should work out great.

Still I don't fancy trying to write 100,000 words in 4 or 5 months. But thanks for the support and I will be emailing you guys soon.

Good luck, Fortis.  I did NaNoWriMo last November.  In case you haven't heard of it, it's National Novel Writing Month where you try to complete a 50,000 word first draft in the month of November.  I managed to complete it but it was very draining as I pretty much had to write 2000 words a day, every day for 30 days.  But if you're on a fifth draft I'm guessing you're not exactly doing this all from scratch, right?  That's got to make it a little easier.

Yeah, I'm going to be one of those guys in the suits wearing nametags, and riding around on bikes...

I'll be gone for two years. Should be pretty awesome, I'm excited. No Rifftrax for two years, but that just means there will be a lot to come back to. And all the movies, and video games I want will be at bargain prices. Win-win.
