Heroin, it turns out, is bad. The Terrible Truth lays waste to the all-too-common myth that regular heroin use is a healthy part of a balanced diet. Professional scowler Judge William B. McKesson guides us through a case study of Phyllis Howard (no relation to Curly) who tries marijuana and quickly begins vacuuming up Charlie Parker-levels of Mexican black tar heroin.

Kevin, Mike and Bill ride this pony for all it's worth.

NOTE: This is an experimental DRM-free short! Use it anywhere, anytime! Or just buy it and throw it away - who cares - it's DRM free! That's right, we hate DRM just as much as you do (we blame The Man), and so we offer this experiment in total freedom. We ask (timidly, hat in hand, our eyes moist with grateful tears) that you not post it or pass it on. If this is successful, there will likely be more DRM-free video content on RiffTrax in the future.

With purchase you get an iPod-compatible MP4, Zune-compatible WMV, and High-quality DivX and MPEG-2 formats.

Enjoy!

Remember, we did this FOR you guys. So please don't pirate it - if this goes well there will be more. Let us know what you think.

Mucho cool.    I can now watch on my ipod when I travel as well as the Divx dvds.

Thank you.

And if anyone messes this up by pirating...... well, remember Clint Eastwood's characters meltdown at the end of "Unforgiven" when he threatened to kill everyone?    Well..... consider yourself warned.

so in other words, this best not be showing up on youtube.

torgosPizza

Correct.

If the response to this is good we'll do more. But if it shows up on YouTube and tor-rent sites, then, the chances of this happening again become less likely.

A great short, made even better by being able to get it full screen without Divx's wierd little window toolbars and junk.

Oh, and if you find any pirates spreading it around PSL, don't shoot them.  I have much more painful ideas in mind.

I give you my power of attorney.

This is excellent news. I bought the first short before I understood that it was DRM crippled, but I wasn't too concerned cause I was all of a dollar in the hole and giving an extra dollar to Mike and the guys is the least I can do. But I certainly wasn't about to buy any more of these.

And now this! I'm very happy, and while I think the fade-outs of the background sounds to make room for the riffs was handled a little drastically, this was good and fun. Plus I can put it on my PSP - yay.

"Oh, be fair. There's a stopoff at cocaine".

Well done - and don't give up on the idea just because it shows up in pirated form - compare the sales to the DRMed shorts and base the decision on that. A lot of piracy is done by people who wouldn't buy product in the first place, and thus doesn't affect the bottom line.

The only negative I see is that the original audio was dubbed all the way down when the riffers speak and to me it made it a little confusing. I ended up going to archive.org and getting the original video and mixing in the mp3 like in the other shorts released before.

thanks for this.  seriously. personally i prefer the old public domain stuff to the new films, so i could watch this stuff all day.

sadly, this is bound to be pirated... so im not getting my hopes up for too much more of these goodies.

Thanks for the DRM-free short! I bought the first short (the Christmas one), but it was such a huge hassle to get the DivX player to work (it kept telling me to update to the newest version, no matter how many times I did just that) that I gave up on the shorts. I'm certainly happy to buy this DRM-free one, though! Now I can stream it to my TV via my Xbox 360 -- who wants to watch these on a computer monitor anyway?

I knew you guys would come through for the honest fans. Maybe I'll buy this one twice.

Ah, I love these old shorts. I mean, please keep on keepin' on with the newer movies, yes please. But a steady stream of shorts as audio snacks between the big beefy meals of full-movie riffs is more than welcome.

Idle thought... any chance of getting some of the special guest riffers to do a short while they're in the studio? I mean, while you got them there. I'd love to hear Neil, Fred or Al tackle some of these. Actually, I'd love to hear them on again on another movie period. But a movie/short combo... mmmmm.

So, if this experiment works, is there any chance that the older shorts will be released this way too?
