Just wondering if I'm the only one who's ever treated himself to this one. (Well technically I treated me and my wife to it. :^) We have this yearly bad-movie fest every year where we just watch movies that we know HAVE to be laughably awful.) Nothing hurts in quite the same way as Double-Dragon.

If you haven't seen it, this was made in the same era as Mario Brothers, when people decided the way to make a good video game movie was to make sure it had nothing to do with the video game. Billy and Jimmy Lee are portrayed as bumbling ninja, Robert Patrick plays the bad guy, who has one half of an amulet that will let him rule the world, and Abobo's in it too. They force feed him spinach. Ummm... Let's see... It takes place in a post-apocalyptic CA flood wherein the criminals are allowed to wander the streets by night without police interferance. And from out of nowhere, in a newscast, Andy Dick covers the weather. As Andy Dick...

It's the most beautifuly, wonderfully cheesy film I've ever seen. Anyone else? Anyone?

lol sadly yes.  The same friend that introduced me to Extreme Heist also introduced me to this lovely piece of cinema (she had this thing for extremely bad, extremely american, extremely juvenile karate movies).  It even has Scott Wolf and Alyssa Milano in it, and of the two brothers, only ONE of them is asian.... ya it's pretty bad.  I'd recommend Super Mario Bros. before I'd ever recommend this one.  Ripe for the riffing, but sadly I'm not sure how available it is.

All this talk about it is making me extremely curious.  It's only ?6 on Amazon.co.uk too....

Edit: Added for extra me.

If you can spare the cash and enjoy a good bad movie, take the plunge. :^)

They ride in a station wagon with a rocket on it.

They call it, the "Dragon Wagon"! :^)

You know, I think I spent several years trying to forget that....damn it.
Oh well, as long as nobody mentions the 3 Ninjas, I'll be fine.

I have never seen this, but would in a heartbeat if Mike did a Rifftrax for this.

Please please riff it!!

I'm gonna give this thread a little bump and say that riffing Double Dragon makes an excellent birthday present, in case Mike doesn't know what to get me later this month. :^)

sarcasm_made_Easy

why were they force feeding abobo spinach?  was it a fleisher brother production?

I wasn't aware this era had ever ended.

Yep - what the hell was Mark Dacascos thinking....? Oh well, gotta start somewhere I suppose.
I love their cheesy costumes during the 'climactic battle sequence' - picture attached below.

Heh heh.
