And the Nominees Are.... (Raspberries 2007)

I don't think Daddy Day Camp should count as worst sequel. It's a sequel to a movie that was already bad. That's not worse than Evan Almighty, which was a sequel to something that was kind of good, although not really all that good now that I think about it, but still slightly interesting with the moving pictures of things and whatnot. Besides Daddy Day Camp only changed two letters in the title. It shouldn't even count as a movie.

How are people supposed to vote for movies no one in their right mind would have gone to see?

I think bratpop asks the central question: Anyone who would help in the voting process is targeting themselves for the Government's campaign against people with bad choices in movies. (Look, I know it seems cruel, but our film culture is going down the drain. We gotta do SOMETHING.)

I would disagree.  If the original movie was bad to begin with, that should imply that a sequel was unnecessary.  That sets the bar low enough, sure, but if a sequel is in line, you might expect that people would perhaps try to alter the story a bit and try to make it a passable sequel, at least enough to give it a distinction such as "Better than the original!"  But when this sequel doesn't even expound upon the original movie, but is instead the same basic movie repackaged with a different location, and can't even keep the original cast interested to come back for a second shot at this sort of movie, there's not much hope for this thing.  And if the movie itself exceeds any and all negative expectations that it may have had, then it stands out on a level of badness that far exceeds that of its predecessor, and the term "bad sequel" just seems right, if a little bit of an understatement.  So I think it's legit, personally.

And I just plain don't like your logic in the second part of that quote.  If that's the case, a movie like Aliens, or any sequel with a number in the title, such as The Godfather 2, shouldn't count as real movies.  (In some cases, it may be true, like The Exorcist 2 or Superman 3, but the statement still rubs me the wrong way.)

But that's like saying Troll 2 was worse than Batman & Robin. Yeah maybe, but who the hell cares about Troll 2? Why would anybody see Troll 2? Did you see Troll? Then you shouldn't have wanted to see Troll 2. House was pretty good, so House 2 was at least some kind of a let down, but Troll 2 just shouldn't matter. It did nothing. B&R killed a whole franchise. Therefore it's worse. Besides a "kid's comedy that you can bring your parents to" is so far from being anything they teach you in film school, why bother counting it as a movie at all. They make these things to fail and bring in a couple dollars. Obviously it must work as they made a sequel to Daddy Day Care for no other apparent reason.

And my LOGIC in the second "part" of my "quote" is exactly what you said. It's the same movie with a different location. Hence the only difference between the films is two letters. It's called a joke. Same goes for Dumb and Dumberer.

I'll reverse the order of the reply.

Part Two: Wow.  Color me embarrassed.  I take full responsibility for my moment of idiocy and sit in the corner and wear the dunce cap for the rest of the day.  For some reason, I thought you were taking a stab at uncreative movie titles instead of saying "the only thing this movie bothered to change was the title."  Good God, am I stupid.  I'm sorry.

Part One: But Batman and Robin was a follow-up to Batman Forever, which was a pretty bad movie, and falls into the same trap that Troll 2 does.  It's not a direct sequel, sure, but then again, neither was Troll 2.

I'll be fair, I can see what you're trying to say.  I just disagree.  I think that the nomination is valid based on the exact same reasons you say it shouldn't count.  The sequel used the same faulty formula the original used and managed to come out with something more detestable than the original.  I think that deserves at least something for its efforts, even if that something is only a nod from the Razzies.

(And let my post serve as proof that knee-jerk reactions to innocent forum posts are bad.  My apologies to you, bratpop.  Good night, and God bless.)

Yes!  DDC all the way!  We've been calling it here for months.

But all those nominations for Norbit scares me...Seems like it's pretty much a given that Eddie and Norbit win in every category, just for laughs.  These things are pretty much just a joke any way, right?  Who votes on them?

Be fair.  Anybody who was even the least bit fond of I Know Who Killed Me, and not for the possibility of it being a riffing classic, deserves to be punched in the back of the head.

Nope, Bratz was the worst movie I saw from that bunch last year.  Completely hopeless in almost every respect.  Even though I think that Lindsay Lohan is a bit of a skank and ruined her reputation/career, it seems that has crossed over unfairly into her films.  She was talented once.

Tripe

Well true I didn't watch Bratz, so it may well have been worse than I Know Who Killed Me but I have difficulty conceiving how.

Fuzzy Necromancer

Gosh. o_o

What a display. I'm torn for worst movie between Norbit, Bratz, and Daddy Day Camp. I can't even begin to contemplate the rest. @_@

I haven't seen any of the worst picture nominees, but my guess would have to go for Bratz.  The fact that there's a movie at all based on a line of incredibly disturbing dolls designed to look like preteens with whore makeup on is enough for me to make that guess.  Then again, the characters in the movie in no way resemble the dolls judging by the preview, so it was probably just some average nothing-special coming of age teen girl movie they slapped a brand name on to sell better, but whatever it still looked horrible.  I can't remember what movie I saw that showed that horrible trailer, but every time the girls yelled out "BFF" I wanted to throw something at the screen.
