Sad to see him go. He was in several of my favorite films. JAWS of course as well as The French Connection and Marathon Man. I even like the first season of SeaQuest.

Dammit! When will the dying stop?? Is it just me or does there seem to be higher than average number of (good) celebrity deaths lately? WHy can't the celebrities that suck die off?? WHY? WHY?WHY? >:(

Here's to Chief Brody enjoying a nice long fishing trip for minnows in a small pond in heaven. Sorry to see you go man. :(
In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice, they aren't.

Always remember... where ever you go, there you are.

He died at the teaching hospital where I got my degree.

I liked seaQuest too.  I started watching because I thought Jonathon Brandis was a fox back in the day, but Captain Bridger was probably my favorite character (besides Darwin).
mike5150 how tall are you?.....in gallons?

They made deals with Satan. ;) :D ;D

Can we counter offer?  I could go three to one sucky Vs. good actors and we still come out ahead.

I'm watching Jaws tonight.

Dreyfuss' comments:

"He was a wonderful guy. He was what I call 'a knockaround actor,'" Richard Dreyfuss, who co-starred with Scheider and Robert Shaw in "Jaws," told The Associated Press on Sunday.
"A 'knockaround actor' to me is a compliment that means a professional that lives the life of a professional actor and doesn't' yell and scream at the fates and does his job and does it as well as he can," Dreyfuss said.

Dreyfuss recalled Sunday a time during the filming of 'Jaws' when Scheider disappeared from the set. As the filming was on hold because of the weather, Scheider "called me up and said, 'You don't know where I am if they call.'
"He'd gone to get a tan. He was really very tan-addicted. That was due to a childhood affliction where he was in bed for a long time. For him being tan was being healthy," Dreyfuss said.
He added that Scheider "was a pretty civilized human being — you can't ask for much more than that."

He should have won the Oscar for that role.  Kramer Vs Kramer was crap.
I'm all out for kicks...and every inch of me spells EXCITEMENT!

Zardoz!

I remember him best from 2010, that movie amazed me and so did everyone in it.

I also remember him calling the guy who wrote the critical book about bob fosse , cursing him and and making some near threatening statements, which were completely called for.
Everyone who believes in justice, racial equality and free speech should support Duane "the Dog" Chapman and boycott anyone who takes action against him.

Let me third the sentiment regarding All That Jazz.  One of my all time favorite movies that I still watch at least once a year.  Fantastic movie and he was great in it.

For years I thought his name was Schneider. That's what watching TV in the 80s gets you.

2010 was awesome, despite what laaaame Kubrick-fellating critics say.

However, Roy also played The Punisher's dad, which is just stupid.
