Choppyness

Is there any way to get the player to work with an ATI card's DVD acceleration? I can play DVDs on my computer just fine in a regular program, but when I play it through the RiffTrax player the playback is terribly choppy. I've checked the DMA settings and those are correct, as well as tried several codecs which all seem to help very little. I think the key problem I'm facing is that I'm trying this on a slower computer (3200 semperon).

Thanks for any help

I'm currently having the same problem.

My computer isn't old by any means - not the fastest, but still it should work fine.

HP Pavilion
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
1.99 GHz, 960 MB RAM

I've downloaded the codecs, but the video is still too choppy to watch.

I'm also having this problem. I have PowerDVD installed on my computer and it plays DVDs fine, but when I try to play Spider-Man in the Rifftrax Player, the video is very choppy. The audio seems to play fine, though. I tried downloading several different codecs and trying them with the Rifftrax Player, but none of them seem to make any difference. I even tried opening the player and going into Task Manager and setting the player to High priority which also didn't help. Here's my computer details:

Compaq Presario
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
2.13GHz , 992 MB of RAM
Windows XP Home Edition: Service Pack 2

My CD/DVD drive is a LITE-ON COMBO LTC-48161H.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what to try, please let me know. I'd love to get this to work.  :speechless:

BTW: I don't think it matters but, does it make a difference that I have the Full Screen version of Spider-Man and not the Widescreen version?

I have the same problem, however it just started today.

I got the player last night when I bought the Jurassic Park riff, installed it and watch the movie with the riff syncing just fine.

I went out and bought a new video card today and decided to watch it again. That's when the choppiness began. I'm currently installing my latest video drivers (went from a nvidia geforce 7900gs to 8600gt) and will see if that does anything.

*NOTE* Updating my video card drivers fixed the problem! Make sure you have the latest drivers for your card!!

I did a search a couple of days ago and found there was an update for my video card driver, so I installed it and tried Rifftrax again, but the video was still very choppy. I've also tried uninstalling PowerDVD and installing the K-Lite Codec Pack, but that didn't work either. I also check for updates for the Rifftrax Player almost every day to make sure that it's the latest version. I just don't understand why my other programs play DVDs fine, but this one has so much trouble. I've tried just about every suggestion and can't seem to get it to work. Again, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.  ???
