I've got the cloudy smudges and also definite scratches.  If MrTorso is correct, then the discs are manufactured poorly.  Add to that the insufficient packaging that resulted in the scratches, and the high price for said poorly manufactured and packaged disc, and I doubt I'll be buying any more until they're available for download (at a lower price, of course).

MrTorso

I have seen the glue cloud on many, many discs. In fact I just did a deal at work 30 minutes ago that where three discs (all major studios) had the milk cloud.

Okay... so let say that the "milk cloud" thing is not unusual (although I've never personally seen it before).  I was already disappointed by the high price, but the scratches are a direct result of insufficient packaging.  For my money, I've received a shabby physical product and I'll go the download route in the future.

Just tell EZTakes you got a bad disc and get them to send you a new one.

My disk has a slight milk "ring" about halfway out from the middle, and several straight line marks at right angles.  The straight line marks are obviously from the envelope, they match the flaps exactly.

None of the marks affect playback, but it is bad that a $15 disk is not pristine, bargain bin disks in any store are packaged better...

At the least they could put the DVDs in one of those plastic sleeves that has a scratch resistant lining before putting it in a paper envelope, would only cost them a few more cents per disk.

MrTorso

Yeah they sure could have mailed them better. Looking at the discmasters site you can get them packaged just that way and they probably did that to expedite the process. Hopefully instead of allowing orders immediately upon delivery of the master they take a week or two to have it replicated and stockpiled.

I'm not sure any of those options at the discmasters site look like what we got, the flap on the mailer looks different, I've gotten disks in mailers that look like that, thick paper with a strip that rips off at the flap.

My guess is they got them in bulk and put them through their normal delivery system same as any disk they burned themselves.

Chaos

The poor business decisions are stacking up. Add extremely low production quality to the list - even when EZTakes went 3rd party to get some runs of pressed disks, they still cheaped out on the provider.

I've never in my life seen a disk with those kinds of "cloudy milk" flaws before.

!

CT's second release will be a blank DVD.  "What?  I said I'd refund on the 1st one you buy!  I never said anything about the second!"

(Yes I know he said we could return it for any reason (ie if it sucked).  I just misread it the first time and thought "what about issues with subsequent orders?")

Bairman

Nice policy... except that I didn't receive the disc within 48 hours of purchase.

Bob

As long as it is playing fine, I really dont care about the "milk" rings and straight lines.

Chill out, BTA, nothing was directed at you.  People bitch on this forum all the time and I'm just as entitled as anyone else.  The disc plays okay, but that's not the point.  It's a poor quality product to begin with and any replacement would more than likely be exactly the same.  Let's just say that my complaint serves as a warning to others who might care about such things.

I understand why you are not satisfied, but there are about 10 pages of moaning here.  I think that is enough warning for people.  Why don't you start a COMPLAINTS thread so I don't have to read the same thing over and over again when there is a new reply in this thread.  So cool?
