I'm about where I expected to be.  I can understand science, but I can't relate to it.  (It's kinda for a nerdy reason, though...I don't think the technological singularity will be a good thing.  It could destroy mankind - and/or its usefulness.  But more likely it just won't be as impressive as everybody is hoping it will be).
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

I don't agree.  I think I'm more of a geek too.  I just know a lot about computers and I have some science degrees.  It's not fair to call me a nerd.  I actually have friends.  I don't play D&D.  I don't watch Star Trek or anything geeky like that...well, ok, mst3k but that doesn't count does it?  Yeah, yeah...

edit: Man, I have the highest score so far on a board of msties?!  The more I visit this board, the lower my self esteem  ;D

I was honest with all my answers too.
Nerd is not an insult.
Why do so many women think it is?

Why do women find it an insult? Webster's:

nerd  /nɜrd/
?noun Slang.
1.   a stupid, irritating, ineffectual, or unattractive person.
2.   an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit: a computer nerd.

See  ;D

I don't really find it an insult but I do refer to myself as "geek" rather than nerd.  To me, Nerd denotes a person more like the guys from "Revenge of the Nerds" and while we were to supposed to find them endearing (I think), I really don't want to be ranked with 'em.  I also picture the guys drooling over "Seven of Nine" and playing D&D while living in their parent's basement.  I just think our culture, at least in the US, sees "Nerd" as a more derogatory term.

Then again, Webster's doesn't look so kindly on geek either:
geek  /gik/
?noun Slang.
1.   a carnival performer who performs sensationally morbid or disgusting acts, as biting off the head of a live chicken.
2.   a peculiar or offensive person, esp. one who is perceived to be overly intellectual.
3.   an expert in computers (a term of pride as self-reference, but often considered offensive when used by outsiders.)

So, I guess I shall go bite the head off a chicken!
