Just noticed the page now says
QuoteBecause of high demand, DVDs ordered today will ship within 10 business days.

I personally ordered mine around 12:09am the day it was released apparently on 12/22.  If you take out Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Years Eve, and New Years Day, then at the very least that would make this the 8th business day....  though it should probably be the 10th...

...

Weekends usually don't count as business days either. Basically with the original delay, a record-breaking amount of orders and all the holidays... this was a perfect storm for a massive shipping delay.

Both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve the Post Office was open, but I guess DVDWagon might have been closed, but you shouldn't count weekends even though there is delivery on saturdays.

Yeah, forgot about weekends.... so I guess even though it's been 13 days it's only technically been about 3-5 business days considering our orders went in on a Saturday morning.

MrTorso

Who knows if they were actually "closed" or not working on the weekends or the holidays. If they did take weekends off when they could see "record breaking sales" happening then they really don't have good business sense.

No one involved appears to have much in the way of business sense.

Don't get me wrong, I love the CT crew and have every reason to believe that The Oozing Skull will probably be funny as hell, but you have to admit that the rights, the release, and the distribution have all been seriously mishandled.  You've got to be hardcore to pay sixteen bucks for a DVD-R that you won't be able to watch for almost a month.

They are probably a smallish firm with a limited staff and limited DVD burning capabilities.   Imagine if you were them and in three days you received several thousand orders for one title.    They may very well have only a few DVD burners and limited number of folks to operate them.

Hopefully for the next release, they are ready for it.
I'm thinking this is not altogether EZtakes' fault.  They were probably expecting that people would have the option to download it.

It's a tough situation.  Do you go with a smaller vendor to keep costs low but risk shipping delays, or do you go with a bigger vendor who can handle the volume but probably charge more per transaction?

They had to go with the former because the cost is already about as high as it should be.  I paid the $16, but I'm not willing to pay much more than that.

What would give you the impression that the guy who gave ownership of his creation to Jim Mallon has no business sense?

Once again, this just speculation, but I think that everyone over at CT was just excited to get 'back in the game' once they saw how much success Mike Kevin, and Bill were having, and by success, I mean fun.  Probably Mike had an advantage in regards to having Legend Films resources at his disposal. Not just actual facilities and equipment, but perhaps insight into the best way to proceed with a both the overall format, as well as the means of distribution.  It has been made readily apparent that Joel is more at ease behind the camera than in front of it.  Moreover they are artists, and sometimes (even if a bit reluctant, such as with Joel) performers.

As for Jim, I'm torn...

....

Is he more of a money-grubbing talentless hack butt-mime, or a petulant greedy rump-beret?

Can't send out the wagon before it's full. Duh! That's like the first rule of wagoneering.

There might be varmints out there wait'n to bushwhack a lone wagon, it's better to wait for all the wagons to be full...

A user over on the MST3k Discussion forum actually called EZtakes and talked to one of their employees. Apparently right now they are planning to start shipping on the 8th.
