A hamdinger is a deviled ham patty, made by the company Swift-Premium, which were sold by the block. You can find them in sandwiches or on buns, etc., but the pattie and two pieces of bread do not a hamdinger make. It's just the patty.

Well, whaddaya know?

I wonder if the Denny's item was so named because it contained the actual Swift-Premium product, or whether two independent corporate entities simultaneously came up with the word "hamdinger."  That's a scary thought.

Actually, it must be the latter; I'm pretty sure the Denny's hamdinger wasn't deviled, pressed, formed, spindled, or mutilated.  I don't remember much about the Hamdinger Slam, but I do remember that it was edible, whereas deviled ham is most definitely not.

Thanks for clearing that up, pizza man.  I'll sleep easier tonight, and dream peacefully of pork products and Beelzebub.

I've yet to see anything at Denny's as Edible... Make Mine IHOP.

IHOP is just Denny's with better PR. I forget who said that, but I'll take credit for it.

BathTub

I wonder if that means Kevin is still around recording more rifftrax, beyond the grudge which should presumably be in the can by now.  ;D

Well, that was a very, very, VERY pointless discussion that eventually led to "Ham patties". Congrats  ;D

As far as I'm concerned, nothing is pointless that eventually leads to ham patties.

I'm really trying here but I can't NOT agree with that...

No, no.  You've got it wrong.  Ham patties are the highest possible level of pointlessness.  After a conversation has completely exhausted itself without having been interrupted, it invariably leads to ham patties in accordance with the Second Law of Thermodynamics.  Ham patties are the lowest level of any discussion to which all uninterrupted and boring discussions default.  There is no conversational topic more pointless than ham patties, thus, conversational entropy tends toward ham patties.
Correction: the coat hanger should be upside down.

in my 25 years of life i have yet to have one semi-decent trip to an ihop.  imagine a restaruant that you have inexplicably eaten at some 20 times and never once be able to say you have had medicore service, food, or otherwise.  The smart ones out there are still wondering how the count could have gotten so high if this is true. well its simple.  as i kid you have no say in where your parents take you, and there are a large number of times i could not refuse to go because all my friends wanted to go.

Its gotten so bad that my last trip (some 2 and a half years ago), we had uber slow service, a waitress with one tooth (no joke), the table next to me there was an idiot with a mullet explaining to his idiot partner about his bachelors in foreign religion (again i wish i was making this up) and how the pope has official authority to arrest the president of the united states on grounds for blasphemy and that according to our constitution we would be powerless against this.  He was talking so loud i forced to hear this retarded blather.  meanwhile i was starving and couldnt even get a cup of coffee from our idiot waitress.  After 40 minutes of this i got so frustrated i left my friends there and went to the nearest drive through i could find.  which took 20 minutes also oddly enough.

As far as i am concerned ihop can rot.  I cannot say dennys is a great anything, but at least i have had a few good trips and several medicore ones.

Wow. Remind me to never visit wherever you are. My local IHOP is quite nice. It's not actually in my town, but it is right next to my favorite comics shop, thus making it a mecca for fat guys in novelty t-shirts, myself included.

you thats what i thought at first too,  maybe its just my home town.  been then as i grew older i have gone outward to different places.  soon it wasnt "maybe its my town", it turned into "maybe its just my county" then "maybe its just california", but now i am in the airforce and been several places, so now i just say, "maybe its just whatever ihop I happen to be in"

I've determined the same thing about Ponderosa.

Here's the official word as confirmed by both Mike and Kevin:

A hamdinger is a deviled ham patty, made by the company Swift-Premium, which were sold by the block. You can find them in sandwiches or on buns, etc., but the pattie and two pieces of bread do not a hamdinger make. It's just the patty.

Oddly enough the mst3kinfo.com FAQ has the "sandwich" definition, but according to the guys, that is incorrect.

You're welcome!

Thanks. We will make the change.
