Why do we still have no icon in the address bar?

Several months ago, there was discussion about the creation of a fav icon for the site.  I think it just sort of fell through the cracks...

Here's a bunch I have created...

Not sure when we'll get to something like this... we realize it's fairly easy to implement, but as with any new addition to the site it would have to be tested across different platforms. In my travels I have seen instances of icons being displayed in one browser but being cached incorrectly in others.

At this point our priorities are such that creating a favicon, testing it, and implementing it would take our focus off the more important things - putting together the next RiffTrax, and making sure the website continues to be the fun venue it is.

However I wouldn't rule out the possibility of one of these days, some of these things changing - it's just not something we have plans for at the moment.

But I created them already, so it's not like you really would be expending that much effort to implement one.

It's really as simple as dropping it in the root of your web server and calling it done.

This was discussed shortly after the board opened.  I tried looking for it, but was unable to find it.

Thanks T-man, I appreciate your effort. But it really isn't just dropping it into the root.. there are lines of code you need to include in all of your pages (again this is for browser- and platform-specific issues) in order for the favicon to be seen correctly by everyone.

We don't have that time at the moment. But, don't be surprised if this changes and you see suddenly see an official RiffTrax favicon in your toolbar.

Yes, IE 6 (maybe resolved in IE7?) does have some issues with favicons... but people should be using Firefox anyway, right

Firefox is smart enough to remember the favicon regardless of the subpage you visit.

I look forward to whatever you guys decide to roll out... just hurry up already

We appreciate all fan suggestions but the RiffTrax staff is very busy and does not have the time to work on favicons at this time.  Please understand that you only need to make the suggestion once and any pestering of the mods will only make it take longer to implement user suggestions.  Not to mention the fact that I beat them with a Cat O' Nine Tails when ever I see them spending to much time on the board and not enough time working on the core RiffTrax work.

I just upgraded to IE 7 and it's pretty neat-o.
