For those that have a Netflix account, Film Crew: Hollywood After Dark has just entered the "Previously Viewed DVDs" section for $5.99 used. Shipping is of course free, but Netflix does charge you for tax. The DVD case, original slip, and disc are all included, making this a very good bargain.

Anyway, hope this announcement helps those that haven't bought it yet. Not sure if the other 3 Film Crew DVDs will follow in the future, but it seems probable that they will.

Awesome!  Got mine.

This just goes to prove my theory that being a procrastinating slack always pays off.

So far I've purchased boy "Hollywood After Dark" and "Giant Of Marathon" (...for $9.99) from Netflix and have been very satisfied with the whole ordering and shipping process. I'm making the assumption that the remaining two Film Crew titles will be sold this way...

But I agree, Netflix does indeed "rock"

Are these disc's ex-rentals?  Are they scratched?

Yes, the DVDs you purchase are ex-rentals however, I have purchased several from them and never had one that was all messed up.   There may be a light scratch on the occasion, but they have never skipped or failed to play.

That sounds like a bad thing to me.  Like they're selling The Film Crew DVDs because there's little demand for them now.  Although perhaps it's because most people bought the DVD rather than rented...

That doesn't necessarily ring true.  Even local rental places carry a lot more titles when releases are new and then they scale back as time goes on.  It won't get to the point that you won't be able to rent them at all.  There are probably just less copies needed in circulation at one particular time.  That's the same reason that The Bourne Identity was hard to find on netflix when the riff was released.  The people who wanted to watch the first 2 movies before seeing the 3rd in the theater sucked up all the scaled back quantity of copies.  It's a good thing for the procrastinators who want to own the DVD's though.  A lot of my movies are ex-rentals from the local video store.  You just have to be willing to watch through them fairly quickly after purchasing them to make sure there aren't any flaws in the copy.

Well, this deal is two months old and the price is dirt cheap. So the argument of low demand has merit.

Also, for what its worth the other film crew title is 9.99. Not sure why the price increase, but I'm guessing that Netflix has less copies to sell. (Although I wouldn't hold it against Film Crew 'demand' because Hollywood After Dark was much more high profile. ie; it got dozens of reviews, articles, press, etcetera. Whereas the others did not.

I bought Giant Of Marathon last night, at 9.99. I was really hoping Killers From Space would be available, but it wasn't - that's the other of the Film Crew discs that I really wanted to pick up.

Netflix has some fairly popular movies for sale (Invincible, Cinderella Man, Babel, Casino Royale, etc) so I dont think you can say that being for sale means they are not popular.

Heck, you can even buy Clonus The Island for 5.99!

Yeah, but I imagine Netflix ordered a heck of a load more copies for those films than the Film Crew DVDs.

Yeah, except when I did that with mst3k volume 9. Doh!
Oh bite me, it's fun!

Just updating my netflix queue, and while I'd while I'll certainly try and purchase a physical copy of it and the other Film Crew titles as well, for thre time being, finances won't allow it at present.  For the time being I can bide my time and see both Hollywood After Dark & Killers from space as they are now available as part of the growing  'view instantly' on your pc catagory...

*goes to move those aforementioned films to thetop of his queue...*
