I'll bring a camera, we can pitch the encounter as a pilot for NBC!

Don't forget the cheesy sitcom theme song!

Fuzzy Necromancer

Shoudn't Beowulf and The Mist be up there, along with 30 Days of Night? =s
Love doesn't hurt. It kills.

I'll put the mist up there and 30 days of night... but I'm not sure about Beowulf.

Mine would be a split between Grindhouse and King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters.

Wiseblood

The Bourne Ultimatum was my favorite movie this year.

Petey Wheatstraw

I still want to see Hot Fuzz, and I loved The Simpsons Movie, but Planet Terror and Death Proof were overall the best of the year for me. 8)
This iRiff will only be on sale for another few hours. Get it while it's cheap!

I voted for my number 2 movie, Superbad.  My favorite movie of the year is Once.

But to be honest, there is still a whole lot that I haven't seen yet.

I know a lot of people don't put stock in the Oscars, but I'm really hoping that Once wins best song this year.  Aside from deserving it, I think it would bring some people's attention the movie.

I think it has a really good chance for two or more nominations in the Best Original Song category, since that tends to be a weak category most years.  A fantastic film.  Movies like this are why I love watching movies.

I wish Once had a proper theater run. I saw it at the Sonoma Film Festival back in April, it's a film everyone needs to see in a theater.

this is annoying me... there were so many great films this year, but it's hard to evenly judge them too since I just saw Sweeny Todd...

As much as I enjoyed Hot Fuzz, and despite the fact that I talk about this movie WAY too much, I had to go with Grindhouse. And not just for the films themselves, but also the overall experience. It was one of the 3 most fun movie theater experiences I had in my life. The other 2 are Raiders of the Lost Ark ( at the end when the nazi's were a-splodin' and the heads were poppin, 6 people in the front row got up and ran for the door!), and From Dusk 'Til Dawn (you could of heard a pin drop during Salma Hayek's dance, everyone in that theater was mesmerised.). It's like everyone in the theater just got it. It wasn't like other flicks you go to and half the people in the theater don't even want to be there. They got dragged there by their girlfriend or boyfriend, and you gotta hear them bitch and moan through the whole damn thing. In these 3 instances, everyone in the theater had a great time. I swear, I had a smile on my face from the Machete trailer, all the way through to the closing credits on Death Proof.

You gotta love those moments when an entire theater comes together behind a movie.  If I'd seen Grindhouse in an environment like that I might have voted for it myself.

I personally love being in a movie theater when one lone person bursts out laughing at something, and everyone else is silent.   ;D

Oh, and while there are a few movies left that I haven't seen (namely Sweeny Todd), my vote is for Superbad.  Not necessarily the best, but by far the most quoted movie of 2007.
