Who ever would have thought that we would live in a world where we have the entire archive of MST3K available, 4 Fiim Crew movies, 50 Rifftrax and now a Cinematic Titanic. We are in riffing Valahalla!

See, this is what I thought was so brilliant about Rifftrax and why I supported it right from the beginning.  No rights issues, (I'm assuming) low overhead costs, and nearly instant gratification for the fans.  You just have to be tech savvy enough to sync up the audio and most of us had no trouble with that.  I was wondering what they were going to have to charge for these DVDs to make it worth their while, it sure wasn't going to be $3.99.  Giant green screens don't pay for themselves.  That being said, I hope it's profitable for them.  I just ordered my copy, now we play the waiting game.

Aww... the waiting game sucks!  Let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos!

Does anyone think there is any chance of this becoming a real dvd, that you could buy from a regular store...cause I don't think us lot who live outside the US have much of a chance of getting otherwise, even when it does come out for download, I imagine getting the international rights would just be a mess on a film like this

And it's not available to people in the UK either....    :grr:

And of course, Joel's site has no customer feedback or contact us information or forum, so you can't even have a decent moan about this "not available in your country" kick in the teeth.

Anybody have an address for Joel's team so I can vent?

Pak-Man

See what you've done, Rifftrax? You've spoiled us. :^)

Doesn't look like their distributor is set up to ship to US Military overseas either -- it won't accept and APO Address. That means that just cut out half a million soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen from ordering their product also.

The master wouldn't approve.

I know it's usually $10 for a Rifftrax DVD plus $4 for the Rifftrax, if you're lucky, but Cinematic Titanic seems really expensive for movies that we know are crap. I mean, this used to be on TV for free. Why can't they make money from advertising the way everyone else in the known galaxies does?

A) It stinks we have to wait for the discs to ship

B) It's released! C'mon, guys, let's be happy that after the madness of the holidays we'll all be laughing in the new Year with CT - it'll be perfect for the Holiday letdown period!

If anyone feels like sticking a few on eBay for those outside the U.S...  ;D

Yay it's out.... oh....

Lame, lame, lame. :(

Since Mike doesn't have to pay a dime for rights to any of the movies he riffs he can charge next to nothing for the riff.  Plus, he's already employed by Legend and they provide the sound booth where he records all of the Rifftrax.  It's not like he has to rent it out or anything.

Joel and the Cinematic Titanic crew not only have to pay for the film rights.  They also have to cover flight expenses, renting out a studio to record their episodes, and paying a camera crew.

Plus, it's not like Rifftrax is awesome about advertising.  It's the fans word of mouth that keeps Rifftrax going more than anything else.  I'm sure Joel is counting on Cinematic Titanic to work the same way.

And when it comes to CT, we're not really paying the $16.00 for the movie; we're paying $16.00 to see a really bad movie get riffed.  If that doesn't appeal to you stick with Rifftrax.

I could bet we're going to see a lot of CT copies being "accidently" mailed to UK people by fellow Rifftrax members.   :)

Yeah but unless they are officially burnt copies, they will be missing out on sales.

Well I put my order in, was really hoping to test out the download part of it.  Here's hoping they get their act together for the next release and get the international side of things going too.  I'm glad there's something from them out there, but they really seemed unprepared.  An extra month or so of planning before the big announcement might have done wonders, it's not like they really had to worry about "competition" from the new mst3k.com (though to be fair they didn't know that at the time)

Well, whoever gets it first, let us know if it's any good. It looks like average early MST3k to me. I don't really get how it's more accessible to the general public unless they're leaving out obscure references. I'm disappointed this was the best Joel could come up with. It's just silhouettes again. Considering you can do limitless things with graphics and video, this isn't very creative. It looks weird to me with all these people standing up for a two hour movie. It makes a lot less sense than seeing people in theater seats. You get the feeling Joel just wanted to do MST3k again but couldn't get the rights, so he changed it a little. Like an Xbox controller switching the buttons around so they don't get sued by Sony. I'm curious to what the "host segments" or intro will be, but there's barely a twist to warrant a blind purchase. With Rifftrax, it's like... well, it's cheap and they're finally riffing stuff like The Matrix and Batman & Robin, and I don't even have to walk to the mailbox. But CT looks like MST: The Next Generation. Or maybe just "Generations" where everybody's a lot rounder. It's funny to think Joel left because he likes to create new things, and he had already created MST so he felt done with it, but then he disappears and comes back with this. The TV Wheel was brilliant, though I never saw the static-o-matic thing, but this doesn't feel new. They could have had fully lit people instead of silhouettes. Or cartoon characters. Or put weird CG objects on the screen in the hands of the movie characters. Or rotoscoped Joel's head in there and redubbed all a main character's lines. And I just came up with these ideas on the spot. Where's the creativity in Cinematic Titanic? It's just MST but with more silhouettes. Like Men in Black 2 is just like Men in Black but more wacky. That's what this feels like, a Hollywood rehash sequel. Where's the special device I plug into my TV to give me electric shocks and smellovision?
