An entire week and we haven't heard anything...maybe everyone died...

Everyone except Molly Brown.

Perhaps so.  Too bad too.  On the upside after several weeks of waiting I finally got the confirmation email on my main email address two days ago.  Must have got caught in my spam filter last time.

Still haven't gotten mine on either email...

and I agree SaucyRossy... all this hype creating all this tension and excitement about the 12/10 release date and then the note saying it'll be a little bit, then 8 days of nothing has completely killed at least all of my excitement over it...  it's getting to sort of an awkward point for me not hearing anything at all since

I wonder if they rushed to announce this prematurely because of MST3K.com.

I had suspected the other way around, but now I'm thinking you may be right.

Maybe there's too much creative talent and not enough management over there at CT. And i don't mean that in a totally horrible way... but sometimes creative types (myself included) get excited by their new projects, and start shooting off their mouth before they really have it together. And there's always something that goes wrong... always. Especially when you're doing something for the first time.

But all of that is even more of a reason not to put the cart before the horse. They probably should have had something, at least one completed project, in the can before they made any official announcements. Especially an official announcement of a release date for their own product! It just should have been ready to go. It should have been filmed, edited and ready for distribution before they announced a release date.

Whatever... once it's up and running, they'll iron out those all those kinks quickly enough. And it'll be worth the wait, i'm sure... uh, pretty sure. But someone needed to step up and take the reins on the management end over there. It's coming off as an amateur project that's not quite ready for prime-time... but then again, it was the same for MST3K when it first aired.

PS- Then again, the entire first season of MST3K was probably filmed before The Comedy Channel even started advertising it...

Well, you think Joel would at least let us know what's going on. He, of all people, from his years on MST3K, knows how important the internet is and how internet communities work.

RoninFox

True, but since this particular ball has been dropped and they are working to pick it back up, he likely doesn't want to say anything definite until they're absolutely sure they're ready, for fear that ball will slip away again.

I tried to hard to hold on to that metaphor.  Guess I dropped the ball too.

I'm looking forward to CT, but I'm worried that  Joel is squandering his good publicity here.  I mean, we all understand if there's going to be a delay, but at least talk to us. Or have one of his people talk to us. A week is an eternity in the online world.

That's one of the main reasons I like Rifftrax so much; its truly a community and everyone is so accessible, from the board mods right up to the riffers.  I think it's amazing and fantastic that the guys are writing the blog on this site, and not only that, when people leave comments, they sometimes answer them!  That immediacy is priceless.

This is very smart on Mike and Legend's part; the few minutes it takes the riffers to write posts and type a couple comments every now and then pay off huge when it comes to building brand loyalty.  (Not that I'm saying they write the blog for that reason--I think they're genuinely interested and enjoy it--but still, the effects are nothing but good.)

It makes me feel like a part of things around here.  It makes me feel like more than just a customer.  I hope things get better over at CT, and I'll certainly see what it has to offer, but Rifftrax is WAY WAY ahead for me where sentimental favoritism is concerned.

BathTub

Yeah it does seem a shame that he might not get the publicity bump missing the date. Couldn't they have released the short they referred to earlier  to keep up the interest or are they still working on that too?

Man, you guys are soooo impatient, you start speculating wildly, "losing all your excitement", you gotta be kidding.

All will be forgotten upon release. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Just something to whet your appetite:
Here's a blog from someone at ILM where they talk about the show:
http://starwarsblog.wordpress.com/2007/12/07/report-from-cinematic-titanic/

Unfortunately, he gives very little details on the riffing itself. But we do get this picture:

"Who, disguised as mild-mannered reporter Joel Hodgson, fights a never ending battle for truth, justice and the American Way."

BathTub

Yes I suppose we could read it again. lol.  ;D

I don't think this is a gift horse?  He wants US to buy his product to make him money.  Entertainment, while entertaining, is not a gift to the consumer.  We are customers, afterall.  Imagine if you went to get a sandwich at a Quiznos and they said, "I don't care if I take an hour to make your sandwich.  I'm kinda doing you a favor here.  We're better than Subway and you don't have to cook."

This is a product.  CT needs lessons in marketing. :)

I was pretty much expecting them to be delayed.  The writing and performance at the live show was the easy part, they used to write a show and film it in about a week, but when they sent the survey out asking us preferred media options that said to me they just weren't ready.  I'm guessing the "Physical DVD" choice was probably a higher percentage than they expected and they're preparing accordingly.  Release dates with things get pushed back.  It happens.

And I'm glad they didn't just say next week, then next week, then next week.  That's what gets frustrating.  They said delay and probably aren't gonna announce the release date until everything is ready to go this time.
