Doctor Who?

Mine is the Alister Sim version.

Not only is it the Version I grew up watching, not only does it have a cast of fine British character actors(Including a young Patrick McNeee),but if you watch the new restored version on DvD the lighting and the sets look great.

It's my favorite Christmas movie.

A close second would be the Mupet's Christmas Carol.

My manage to give the Mupet's lots to do while staying faithful to the text.

I like the Alistair Sim one, but its ending is rubbish.  He never goes to see Bob Cratchett, never meets Tiny Tim, and we only find out the Tim's going to be alright because the narrator tells us at the very end.  My favourite is Muppet's Christmas Carol, though the DVD has stupidly cut one of the songs, perhaps it was deemed "too sad" for children to watch.  The musical one in the 70s is pretty terrible, but it does have one great number, when Scrooge visits the future and there's a big procession/party for his funeral and one guy jumps onto to the top of Scrooge's coffin and proceeds to tap dance on it while singing "Thank you very much, thank you very much, that's the nicest thing you could have done for me!"

Tripe

I'm almost the same as you but in reverse

The Muppet one actually maintained some of the macabre that most other productions excise ("Ooh these sheets are still warm").

Dickens was a brilliant writer of the creepy and macabre that people often miss in the adaptations of his work.

I love the opening song to The Muppet Christmas Carol

Wait Basehart, which song is cut? The Marley and Marley one? Christ on a Bike Disney buying Henson was one of the worst acquisitions ever.

Sim was a spectacular Actor, an especially talented commedian even in his serious roles. He brings a sense of the ridiculous that enlivens every role he plays.

The cut song is the only that Scrooge and Bell sing when Bell breaks up with him.

But that song was not in the version of the movie shown in theaters so they decided not to put in the widescreen cut of the movie,it's still on the disc just part of the fullscreen like the VHS.

Then why put it out on VHS? Or not put it in movie after the rather large outcry when it wasn't put in the first DVD release? That song makes it a better film.

Doctor Who?

Well I never liked the song but I cann't say why they put it on the VHS.

But I think they did a good job on the disc in that they put both cuts on the movie on one disc.

As I said I have no idea why the song was put on the VHS.

But there you are that's Disney for you, nothing they do makes sense.

My favorite would be the parody I made called Another Christmas Carol which I stared in as all of the ghosts.  Narcissism doesn't even begin to describe me.

After that I'd say Scrooged, which I'm surprised hasn't come up yet.

hmm well I loved Scrooged but I was thinking along the lines a straight adaptations.

My favorite overall Christmas Carol is the Muppet one, but my favorite Scrooge is hands down George C. Scott

I don't think I've ever seen A Christmas Carol in any context but the Muppets.

Scrooged is the one that comes to mind, I remember nobody else liking it when it came out
I really do like pie.

I agree that the George C. Scott one was my favorite... although the Patrick Stewart one has great special effects...

My favorite version of A Christmas Carol would have to be this one -- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0326163/ -- though my reasons have nothing to do with any actual quality or entertainment value.

Hmm.... I remember seeing A Diva's Christmas Carol, starring Vanessa Williams a few years ago.  That wasn't very good.
